A twist on the normal Nigerian trust fund scam.

Post by Rkolter »

I just thought this was interesting. I got this email today:

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Hello Dear

My name is Mrs. Elena Morris; I am a dying woman who has decided to donate what I have to you and the charity organization around your community. I am 62 years old and I was diagnosed for cancer for about 2 years ago immediately after the death of my husband who has left me everything he worked for and because the doctors told me I will not live longer than some weeks because of my health i decided to WILL/donate the sum of $5.700.000.00 to you.

Here is the Contact information of my Attorney below:

VAN DER JOEL ADVOCATEN
ANTWOORD 1070 AM PARNASSUSWEG BOULEVARD
AMSTERDAM NETHERLANDS
Email: luiqq@netscape.net
Barr: Van Der Joel Advocaten

and tell him that I have WILLED $5.700.000.00 to you I know I don't know you but I have been directed to do this.

Best Regards,
From Mrs. Elena Morris.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Is it just me, or is this worse somehow, than the normal "I have found a trust fund that is fully funded and want to split it with you" type scam? I mean, really. Random rich lady in her 60's, dying from cancer?

The part I find most unbelievable is that there is a 62 year old lady that figured out how to work the internet.

You could forward the email to the folks at 419 Eater; it might be a new scammer they haven't encountered before.

I like that they did the European switch of the commas for decimals, but then forgot to also switch decimals for commas. The amount should read "$5.700.000,00" and not "$5.700.000.00"

I say follow it up, see how deep the rabbit hole goes and then mess with the rabbit.

If they work, I'll give you half the remaining million for them. Just send me your banking info. I'll give you my work address for the shipment - you'll wrap it in a plain brown wrapper, right? :shifty:
