I usually start with the head followed by the shoulder then spine. Although I tend to draw circles and lines in the beginning sooo...

Messed up the wolf though. Need to find better references.

I usually start with the head and work my way down. The exception is if I have to draw someone sitting on something, and I already have people drawn sitting on the same thing. If I start with the head in that case, I usually mess up and have to draw the torso too long or too short to get the bum on the seat. So I would start by drawing the bum, and working my way up.

I don't draw realistically a lot. Most of what I draw is just comicky stuff, so I start with what's called the "action line". It's basically the spine, or close to it. Then I draw the basic head shape, spine and basic skeletal structure, then I start with the detail.
Unless I'm lazy, which I am a lot, so I start with the head structure, then head detail, then I do something with the body that fits
