Hell I'd probably shut down one of thier comics just by linking to it in my newsbox.
Might be a fun little experiment.

Gutterfly not restrictive enough for you? Try ComicOstrich! No PHP... no HTML, even. No real navigation, minimal customization at best. Won't even host your images. "Keep it clean" policy. Might work for someone who already has somewhere to host an image and probably won't get past the first "coming soon" page.

(Or for someone who already has a comic online somewhere and wants to post a sample image and a link.)

Join today! :)

Edit: Oooh... Postcount is not special in any way! :)

Not a damn one of you are using 3 gigs in bandwidth - quit your bitchin'

And maybe, JUST MAYBE you should check your own computer for viruses instead of blaming someone else for your problems.

Easy there, Tang, you're violating your host site's "family oriented" policy.

Look, everyone here is happy with our service. It's clear you guys at Gutterfly enjoy yours. You offered (spammed) us a service we don't feel we need, and so we're not going to take it, and we're gonna talk about why not. Don't come here and whine to us about it. No one bit. Deal with it.

Here's the thing I'm not quite understanding...

Why would you go to a webcomic hosting site's forum to promote a webcomic hosting service? Wouldn't it be logical to assume that whoever frequents there probably already has hosting covered? I can understand it if you were talking about GutterflyComix when someone was asking about alternate hosts but this isn't the case.

Well, they have a point about the dummy account but us considering them a threat is very, very weak. We don't have position worth much defending and no controlling interest in CG. Trolling other people's forums isn't going to enamour them to anyone either. Part of having such a service is customer relations, after all.

I also notice they use Scott McCloud's revolution icons on their main page's Flash loader. If anyone from there comes back to check this thread again... If you don't have permission, that's a copyright violation. Not sure if SC would mind or anything but, technically, yeah.

I actually registered ComicOstrich around the time the ComicGenesis/DrunkDuck war was starting, as a sort of joke neutral ground between the two (a couple characters were going to run off there in a comic I wound up not drawing), not as a "mock Gutterfly" thing. I suppose I should go tell them that...

Jeez, what a denial.
We have heard those exact same remarks about bandwidth, readership, yadda yadda yadda on every forum someone posts this on. It's good.
Of course, if the whole world is telling you something, it must be false. Because the bunch of you, of course, knows better than all those people who've been in webcomics for years.
People, if you got exactly the same objections on every forum you were talked about, then just perhaps you should consider them useful suggestions and do something about it? If every single review of my comic tells me that I have bad grammar, I don't go around claiming that it's their grammar that is wrong.
The best way not to improve and to get stuck in place and useless is to assume that everyone who says something negative about you is just jealous.

Pssh. I dare you to link to my site. :P
Also, flaming is bannable offense, on any other forum you'd probably be kicked in the gutter by now. I think you'd be much better if you could actually assemble a few agruements and reasons why GutterFly is good and posted them instead of this "YOU PUSSIES" post. This way, you just made the impression that all of you are immature flamers, which is probably not true.
I suggest to GutterFly people not to let you represent them in future.

I click the link above while at work (the PCs are very well protected here), and sure enough, Norton immediately screams murder. These guys should check first before assuming people are throwing false accusations around; even if they're not the cause (which is the most likely posibility), whoever's in charge over there oughta do something about it soon.

Apart from that, those limitations wouldn't affect my comic at all. Maybe I should resurrect it over there, now that Keenspace's deadnyo...

Mmmmm....
Faith is what credulity becomes when it finally achieves escape velocity from the constraints of terrestrial discourse- reasonableness, internal coherence, civility, and candor. Thus, the men who commited the atrocities of September 11 were neither cowards nor lunatics of any sort, but Men of Faith- perfect faith- and this, it must finally be acknowleged, is a terrible thing to be.

Wow, things have certainly become heated around here.
As a peace-loving gutterfly I think I'd better clarify a few things..
1) The front page is heavily flash-based. I've never had any warning from my copy of Norton though I suspect Norton may be responding to the 'do you want to install maromedia' message? Perhaps? I don't know these things.
2) If I ever used a GB of bandwidth I would be very happy indeed. That would be about 4000 pageviews, last month I had 1500. I'm not so concerned. If it does happen (Go for it Ghastly! - http://www.gutterflycomix.com/onethousandwords), I'll consider my options with a smile on my face.
3) I think Gutterfly's fort

3 gigs is not hard. My average pageload is 75KB, which is pretty low as far as a lot of webcomics go. However even in my current hiatus/too lazy to update state, I still get upwards of 50,000 pageviews a month. Last month I used 6 gigs of bandwidth.
When I used to updated regularly I was using up to 30 gigs a month.

Webcomics are bandwidth intensive, and only small comics with a small readership can get away with a small amount of bandwidth.

EDIT: It's always nice that people offer free services to others, but the bandwidth just isn't enough for a lot of people.

Is it just me, or is this how the CG-DD war started, only this time it's more of a flamewar?
