I reckon there's some secret pitch you have to yell it at to get a response (like those simpsons jokes where the "real" number to call is 912)
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

Well if nothing else it gives us a chance to have a look at the Rac Cona legal/judicial system. I mean really, they can't hold him for long. There's no case. He didn't steal anything, that merchant just assumed that he would. They can't hold him long.
...Right?
...Right?

another delay to getting that sword back, every hour the sword gets tangled up further and further into the system.

Well it's from a video game series called Metal Gear Solid. The games put heavy emphasis on stealth, in some parts of the game the cardboard box is a lifesaver. You can hide in one and use it as a disguise. Eventually the card board box became a cult status symbol of the game. The most recent game in the series even had a really humorous scene in it, dealing with the appeal of the box. The comics Astral and I linked to parodied the box usage in the games. Even my SN comes from the games, sorta. The majority of the main characters in the game have codenames, based on their abilities and animal characteristics. Sniper Wolf, Revolver Ocelot, Psycho Mantis, Grey Fox, stuff like that. Then you have the three snakes, Solid Snake (The main hero of the series), Liquid Snake (The villain of the first MGS game), and Solidus Snake (The villain of the second MGS game). Solidus was the villain of the game, his actions were wrong, but his ultimate goal was very noble. I hated having to take him out. Well anywho I took Solidus and changed his animal attribute to a raccoon instead of a snake.

Blessing in disguise?
I thought by now someone would have mentioned that this could be a small blessing in disguise for Quentyn. He is looking for a way to get closer to Wildcard, so he's been following some Royals for a possible way in. Now that he's been "caught stealing",
they may believe that he was following them to try and join up, and the "attempted theft" was him trying to prove himself, just like the kit that stole Wildcard. This way, instead of trying to sneak in, he may get the nickel tour (or would that be the 'copper bead tour'?)

Perhaps he'll run into the guardsman he met after the Wight episode and get the chance to explain. Maybe even work something out so that the guards might be able to help. Either by directly trying to get Wildcard back or by helping Quentyn create a pseudo-identity as a theif that will impress the Royals. Put up a lot of wanted posters stating that he's a master theif or stole something valuable, something along those lines.

Either way he is in big trouble for the short run.
