Keep the celebs in the strip!
I love the x-files gang! How about going Matrix or Lord of the Rings? Those franchises will keep fresh for the next few years.
Of course, keep Star Wars as well.
Here's a thot off the top of my head, what if Lord of the Rings was a Matrix that Bob and Ed got stuck in with Trinity?
Keep up the good work!

------------------

Way ahead of you on the Matrix thingie. As for Lord of the Rings...well, the majority of the comics you're reading were penned back in 1999, before the whole Lord of the Rings furor had even begun...but you can expect some of that to happen later on.
Believe me.

Yes! You too may be some day made of plaster!

And it has been said that your comic was good.

Lo! But it perhaps should use a very obscure crossover. Perhaps Bob or Ed should make the acquaintance of a certain Doctor Jeffcoat from My Secret Identity! Yes! And then Bob or Ed gets lame superpowers that suck.

Or perhaps Ryan.! Or is he still a vampire? I don't remember.

I think a Ryan. My Secret Identity plot would be cool.

Other crossover ideas could be an X-Files/American Idol mix... with Scully leaving the FBI to pursue her music career... or Mulder... whomever...

Man! You should pay ME for this!

Crossover-mania

Actually, I already have my own ideas for crossovers. "Touched By Angel" and "Lord of the Ring" spring to mind. If you can't figure out the premises based on the names, then you're not learned enough in pop-culture trivia.
Also...pardon me if I'm wrong...but don't you owe me some money, at this point? :)

why not do something totally random, beyond a crossover, perhaps allowing the characters to break the fourth wall. Though breaking the fourth wall can be risky depending on the general theme of the comic itself. The only one to really judge that one would be you.

All round, I love your drawing style and your teachniques for drama and such. A very simple peice of your work looks excelent *drool*

you know, people should be paid in bananas.

Uhm, maybe make the Discworld influence a little less obvious? I'm still pissed that, as a new reader, I'll never see half of Bob 'N' Ed due to the whole Star Wars thing.

I think (I'm not entirely sure) that Bob 'N' Ed used to feature Obi Wan Kenobi, and that because of this a big chunk of the comic had to be removed.

Why? I thought you could do that sort of thing if you weren't making any money off it, like fanart. :-?

Now that you mention it, that does seem strange...

It would be strange if I didn't ever intend to make money off of this comic, but, unfortunately, I do make money off of this web-site, even if it isn't all that much, and I would like to make more of it through merchandise and such, which would put me in a dangerous position, copyright-wise. I've already experimented with selling a CD with the entirety of the Bob 'N' Ed archives on it and found the response to be small but considerable. So, if I wanted to keep selling stuff on my site without getting owned by Lucas and company, I had to go back and gut the archives, which I did. I'm still in the process of rebuilding them so I can re-issue the CD.
Hope this answers any questions you might have had.

Buffy

Post by Kaykay »

I'm not a fan of Buffy, but it IS very well known and lots of people obsess over it. I also think it would tie in well with our Ryan being a vampire and all... :P

I like the whole gamers thread. I didn't expect you to put them in and it was hilarious!!

Well, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the whole "Angel/Spike" dynamic between Ryan. and Seb.

And yeah...I had to include Gamers.
