This forum is like a goldfish swimming in circles

Having been here on KS for a while, I often get this sense of deja vu. Every so often, the same threads will repeat themselves, and even on the thread level, the posts are often repetitive.

Exhibit 1: the "Monthly search strings" threads: Entertaining the first couple of times around, but every time it's just people pointing out sex-related search strings.

Exhibit 2: the "What/where/why/who/how is your comic/character/personal life such-and-such" threads: A good idea if there was discussion, but these end up as catalogues of each person's stuff.

Exhibit 3: the "I'm new" / "I'm back" / Comic Plug threads: One person starts post, everyone else posts once. Thread drops off page after everyone else has posted once, and thread starter hasn't had anything else to add.

There are the occassional gems, such as Ghastly's rants against the KS administration, but as a whole the bulk of the threads are filled with short posts and have little coherence.

The whole point of Keenspace threads is not to actually discuss the topic posted but to see where it ends up (usually far from where it began); therefore, all topic names are irrelevant. Why not recycle them?

Example: Fanart Joy II
Topic: Post fanart
Ultimate discussion: Flying, flightless birds, and gravity

most forums are like that. people typically have a favorite type of thread for a particular forum, so it keeps getting recycled. how many times have you been on a sci-fi forum and seen a "this ship vs. that ship" thread?

Threads about Lindsay Lohan as a sex symbol Vs. cute girl who was in "The Parent Trap" seem to spring up quite a bit. Usually because of me...

More often than not though, the threads don't make it to the discuss something new and random phase. Why not just start there?

Just keep in mind, that under proper conditions, goldfish can grow to ridicullous proportions.
Faith is what credulity becomes when it finally achieves escape velocity from the constraints of terrestrial discourse- reasonableness, internal coherence, civility, and candor. Thus, the men who commited the atrocities of September 11 were neither cowards nor lunatics of any sort, but Men of Faith- perfect faith- and this, it must finally be acknowleged, is a terrible thing to be.

Because you have to pick an awful lot of regular strawberries before you find the big honking sweet momma with which you will pelt your sister.

And giant goldfish are just koi.

So what?

I think goldfishes are pretty. Besides, our community does well the way it does.

If Ghastly came here to rant against Chris Crosby everyday, we would get tired of it pretty quickly; also, he made his peace with Keen.

There are lots of other comic communities besides Keenspace, I'm sure you'd find on of your liking:

Don't be sorry. If the mods started enforcing non-off topic policies I'd be the first one to leave.

Now there's a surprise.

I agree, this forum sucks.
Someone like Spoder-Man was only trying to save you all from the monotony of these repeating and constantly off topic threads. And what do you do to repay him? You banned him! He wasn't the troll, you all are! You're all monsters!
