alright, let's keep this a clean fight. no flaming, personal attacks, etc.
who are you voting for?
don't have to answer the question, if you don't feel comfortable.
personally, I'm either voting for Kerry, or maybe throwing in a protest vote for Sharpton or ficus, because NY will go for Kerry and the electoral college pisses me off.

Yeah, what RKolter said. They both scare me, they're both ugly (although Bush was a fox in his younger days, rowr), but Kerry seems to be able to keep a level and fair head about things.
But either way, I don't think my dorm is going to be a very happy place once the results are broadcast (Southern dorm full of Bush supporters). It'll either be sorrow for them or me, this race has my stomach in knots.

Ditto on Kerry and Bush's religious fanaticism... in fact, the wife and I sent in early ballots so we already voted for Kerry. Bush frightens me. Immensely. I've actually wept at the idea of him winning the election.
Kerry is without question the lesser evil here, and it's a very nerve wrackingly close race.

ditto with RKolter. But I already know that the Electorial vote for Alaska is going to Bush... not that it matters on that either. CNN always annouces who won the election before Alaska's polls even close.
How I know it will go to Bush is that 82% of Alaskans want ANWR (but lets not argue about that either) and Kerry is against it. Personally I feel that as long as ANWR is a national issue, it won't ever pass, so it's not a deciding factor to me in who I vote for. It's education, Heatlth and Civil Issues that I care about. So while I'll vote against the Majority in Alaska, I'll still be proud to say "at least I voted the way I believe I should have."

This is coming as an uninterested onlooker from across the waves in the land of milk and honey and bouncing rats and other strange animals...
Kerry must be getting a little worried, cos just recently it appears that he has recoloured his hair...he's definitely not as silvery as he was when I first saw him on the news...
Dunno if that's gonna affect anything, but it looks like a cheap ploy from way over here...

Kerry does like keeping his apperance youthful. American Media has already commented on that and Botox. I don't think someone wanting to keep his appearnce up is a bad thing.

Bush's hair color fluxuates from day to day as well. I think it's pretty much a given with male candidates in our image-obsessed politics.Dutch! wrote:This is coming as an uninterested onlooker from across the waves in the land of milk and honey and bouncing rats and other strange animals...

I'm another Kerry voter. I'll even go out on a limb and say that he's going to win, and it's not going to be nearly as close as the media is trying to make it seem. (Not so much due to pro-Bush bias as they want the massed peons to keep watching for the Latest Thrilling Update, not to mention the Latest Thrilling Commercials...) It won't be an absolute landslide; 35-40% of the voters are going to go for Bush even if he is caught live on national TV on the White House lawn having improper relations with terrorist goats. But Bush just squeaked in in 2000, lots and lots of new Democratic voters have joined the ranks, and he hasn't won many converts from the other side of the aisle.
Edit: screw optimism and idealism. Pedagogy and negativism are much more worthwhile.

Fun fact. An Australian journalist who works in the US and who recently popped back to Australia during our own Federal election found out more about our candidates, what they stand for and their plans if they get into office in two days than in the entire American election to date.
I have a theory as to why, too. Americans don't have to vote, but if you do something people don't like, then they will. Incensed people take action and content people do not. If you actually state any firm policies, all you'll get are the people who don't like it voting against you.
This is also why the lobbies have such hugely disproportianate power in the US - because their members will vote against you if you upset them but the other people might not vote for you.*
US politics is about not upsetting anyone.

* Which is why we actually managed to get gun control laws through. The Prime Minister ignored the lobby.

I think Bush is gonna win. I really don't want him to, but I have the niggling feeling that it'll happen.
Who should win?? Why, John Edwards of course!

Here we see Edwards comparing the size of Bush's penis (left) to his own (right).
I think Edwards has had Botox because he's 51 and looks 35.

If you vote for Bush, then you hate kittens. You don't HATE kittens, DO YOU?!?!?!
