This is simple. I'm reading King Suckerman by George P. Pelecanos. ISBN# 0-440-22595-7If anyone is interested in an online discussion of the book, reply to this topic and go get the book. Let's tentatively set the first week in August as when the discussion begins. We can do it earlier, but I want to give everyone time to get the book and read it. After the initial discussion ends, we'll start a thread to choose the next book.One of the issues I'm interested in talking about for King Suckerman: a white author writing about a black and white team and writing authentic black "voice." Let's do this.------------------

Ooh. I wanna do this, if only for the fact that I'm also a writer dealing with a similar but different (don't you love that phrase?) issue -- my main character, written in the first person, is very distinctly not my gender. I've gotta find this book now.--Strange/Dave------------------

I read King Suckerman. Good stuff if a bit rough n' violent. Reminded me of a Spencer novel but kind of faster, messier. ------------------

Well it was more than a year ago. I'll have to find my copy or get it from the library. I'll certainly try to be prepared!Sorry you had to work on the fourth!
