Be a Buddy and Help me find Comic Ads with fallacies

Post by Waf »

I'm got an assignement for class to write a paper on Ads that have "fallacies in them to convince consumers to go to their product or service". I'm planning on doing mine on webcomic ads cause as we all know, there are some very creative BS ads. But I'd like to increase how many ads I have for referances in the paper and thats where you come in.

So basically I'm asking you to post what you think are the best ads that are full of fallacies for me. (You are more than welcome to put one of your own in if you like).

So if you know any other ads that do things like:
Promise Sex Appeal but fail to deliver.
Promise to be the best comic you've ever read.
Promise to be the worst comic you've ever read.
Claim everyone else is reading it.
Claim all the smart people are reading it.
Generalizes all other comics as inferior.

Basically anything that they try to tote as the truth but is indeed flawed.[/list]

That would mean SEEING the ads ... and I have banner-ad blindness as much as the next guy.

Durnit, whenever someone says something like that I think I misspelled the word in question, and seeing I was in a hurry when I typed that out it is extremely possible!

the Ad I had on Ghastly's at the beginning of June had promises of sexual things.... but it's not running at the moment.

Ah, but Ghastly delivers, in a big way.

The main part to that is when they promise that and then it is no where to be found.

"Read my comic now. Or we'll null your arms off."

Unfortunately, I'm pretty much ad-blinded.
Is cleaning up after your past self dishonest or just prudent?

I'm not sure, but I'm doing it in hopes it's the latter. [Signature deleted.]

If you don't read my comic, you suck. I fail to see how people don't understand that.

I could be mistaken, but I believe you are misinterpreting your assignment.

"Fallacies in them to convince consumers to go to their product or service." This seems to be only talking about fallacies in the ads themselves, it does not say anything about whether the stuff advertised is delivered or not.

Ads that say nothing about the comic tend to be on my list. But it's rare that you find one like that.

But if it's delivered, it's not a fallacy =)

But, the quote says nothing about the product, just about the advertisement. Whether the product is delivered or not does not change how effective the ad is, unless people are aware that the ad is misleading from a past experience. If it was asking about marketing campaign fallacies, that would make sense.

But if the product is delivered you cannot use the ad in your paper about "fallacies in them to convince consumers to go to their product or service".
You are the Non. You must go now, and never return."

"1.Scan in high res 2.tweak with curves, levels or something to clean up the scan (or use channel mixer to remove blue pencil lines) 3.Add colour using a layer set to multiply. 4.Add wordbubbles and text as vector shapes. 5. Merge all layers. 6.resize to the web size. 7. Export/Save for Web" that's all I know about webcomicking.

My newsbox is all flashy and shiz, but says absolutely nothing about White Hydra, and my long banner says it all.
