Congrats to all the spacers~! Especially Adis, because he's one hell of a cool guy I met on the DrunkDuck forums, and Faub who feels like a cousin in the black & white medium
~!
Oh and I already voted this morning (because I was determined to not miss out, since I couldn't get my nominations in on time
).

ok - here's a totally clueless question...
i notice that last years awards were presented by a number of spacers. is this by invite only or is the idea to submit to the awards your version of the presentation and the best one gets picked. couldn't find anything to clue me in on the awards website...
motive for asking: more than anything it seemed like a great way to get some publicity for a comic...
yeah - sorry for cross-posting this ??? but wasn't gettin' any action with the one over in GD...

Hi all!
I was originally going to post a "thank you" to Mr. Bob. Yesterday he had recommended voting for ATHENA VOLTAIRE for Outstanding Use of Color. Now his recommendation is no longer there.
You never write, you never call, and now this? No love for us, Bob?
Seriously, this is a big "thank you" to all who voted for the incredible color wizardry of my artistic partner-in-crime, Chad Fidler. He really does a great job in making ATHENA VOLTAIRE the best-colored comic on the web.
Feel free to check us out. We're actually relaunching from the beginning TODAY!! That's right, even though Modern Tales is a subscription site, you can check the series out for free, as we're running all of the ATHENA VOLTAIRE episodes daily from now until Augut 16.
Thanks again for the nomination!

Yeah.. I was listing all the keenspace community members who got nominated in this thread and somehow Athena Voltaire snuck into my list unnoticed... which I later edited...
But hey, that does not diminish your achievement in the least! Congratulations in getting nominated Steve, and if, under the persuasion of some kind of latent madness, you feel so inclined to stick around I will not hesitate in giving you your due mention in the future!
It is no lie when I say Athena Voltaire is one beautifully illustrated piece of work. I would continue to describe how it has the effect of making my eyeballs try to escape their confined sockets in order to try make love to my monitor, but that would be just plain excessive!

Aw, Bob, you know I was just giving you grief. But thanks for the kind words.
There's a lot of activity on these boards; I recently discoverd them through the CCA ballot link (I know, I tend to spend waaay too much time drawing my little comic and not enough time getting to know the webcomics industry at large)...lots of good stuff here!
Take care!

Yeah. This is one of the most active webcomics forums out there. Sometimes it's just nonsense, but sometimes important stuff happens here too. Hope you're not planning to leave so soon!Steve Bryant wrote:There's a lot of activity on these boards; I recently discoverd them through the CCA ballot link (I know, I tend to spend waaay too much time drawing my little comic and not enough time getting to know the webcomics industry at large)...lots of good stuff here!

I'm going to try and pop in as often as I can. I also have my own forum that I need to pay attention to (as well as drawing drawing drawing!), but I'd like to become a bit more involved in the webcomics community at large.RPin wrote:Yeah. If I were to vote at all, I'd do it for the one I felt was best, and not for the spacers just because they're spacers. That's the kind of attitude that keeps the CCAs from achieving full credibility.
So please vote, but unlike Mr. Bob, I urge you to vote for the one in each category you think deserves it. That way you not only properly recognize an artist's efforts, but also help the CCAs mature.

Faith is what credulity becomes when it finally achieves escape velocity from the constraints of terrestrial discourse- reasonableness, internal coherence, civility, and candor. Thus, the men who commited the atrocities of September 11 were neither cowards nor lunatics of any sort, but Men of Faith- perfect faith- and this, it must finally be acknowleged, is a terrible thing to be.

why would you want to vote for spacers just because they're spacers?
i mean, if a keenspace comic happens to be the best, ofcourse it should get the vote.. but...

Darn, then Pin would have to start updating more often and less one-panel comics :p.
I'll be happy with both Faub and EOI, those would be my first links from keenspot, actually.
