...and now all my stuff on the guide server (banners, icons, etc) appears to be dead as well.

From my perspective, things seem to be getting WORSE over time rather than better.

Anyone else observing similar issues?

EDIT: Yep, it's not just me. Guide.keenspace.com looks to be down, so it's everyone else with stuff hosted on the guide too.

I was wondering

Post by Isukiyomi »

That's the same problem I have. My comic has updated but the links disappear on and off the page when I go to check on it. Ah well, nothing I can do but wait I suppose. But very, very thankful that my comic updated ::presents a plate of cookies for Kisai:: :D

That's cause Guide is on boardy, guide2 is on ydk, and guide2 has no index page. (it's meant to be the "ydk server" for the banners, but there are pages there too)

Hmm... so does that mean my banners and stuff were on Guide? Or would that only be the case if I'd uploaded them a long time ago, just like how my comic is on Boardy?

I believe I put the banners up in late August.

guide.keenspace.com is on boardy...

you can "upload" avatars to the forums now, if you need to.

Anyhow..

I'm noticing a lot of "space" abuse... in two forms.

96GB is boardy, so far I've deleted 5GB's of it because of these two problems:

1. People using keenspace as a dumping site... I've found manga scans, pirated software, mp3s, 700MB "videos" ... if I find any more sites with this stuff on it, I'm removing the offending content without notifying you. Do not use keenspace as your personal 'backup' cause I don't like it when keenspace fails, and people who abuse it are part of the problem. (tying up disk space, ftp/http sessions, cpu and disk i/o)
2. Now I want to know which FTP client is causing "infinite recursion" , I want to blame IE, but I'm not sure it's it.
Please check that your client is not creating /public_html or /workspace . I will remove any "recursion errors" next, automatically with a script, since it jams up the update queue as well. One persons site used up 1.3GB of space "recursing" the ftp.

I'm probably 70% done restoring boardy, but I'll still need to rebuild the symlinks and probably part of the members.keenspace.com site since the server actually rebooted once it to it.

It's up! It's up! I am happy, relieved and grateful. My comic is still stuck at the update for last Monday, but I'll wait for it. I may even go into repeats next week to make up for lost time and have some time for other work...

I think Boardy updates still aren't working yet- but at least the sites are up now...

According to Kisai, boardy still has a number of problems so it's only a temporary thing. It appears boardy will shortly die to be replaced by butch.

We're waiting for Butch to be brought in so we can move to him and away from Boardy. (That, and some abusers are going to be murdered by him too. We got some prime canidates...)

I just love how Kisai found 700MB "videos". She didn't just find videos, she found "videos". The need for quotes made me laugh. Soooo many implications. :)

I'd ask what kinds of "videos", but then maybe I don't wanna know... Does this mean that boardy's going bye-bye, with butch completely replacing it? And who comes up with these names?

Computer names are all inside jokes. It's a unix thing I guess. My homepage is on freeshell.org. The names are all based on Robotech and anime.

Well, mines named Navi (pretty obvious reference). I have no clue what YDK, Boardy, or Butch refer too.

You must not read a lot of Keenspot cartoons.
