KeenSpace down.

Post by STrRedWolf »

Our main server, Boardy, is down and ailing. We are performing emergency recovery at this time.

While we try to recover everything, we do encurage folks to have backups on their own PC's.

Kinda too late to mention that now that the server is down and ftp doesn't work...

Well, I always have backups of everything (including backups of backups), so I'm ok.

Anyways, any ETA on recovery?

God damnit! I tried telling Chris Crosby that you can't run a server on a 386, but would he listen? NoooOOOOOoooooo. :x

And once again I'm one of the lucky ones. BWA-HA! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

I first noticed when I tried to visit Maria and Michelle's site. I wanted to see if they finally got around to linking to my fanart.

Anyway to put up a message telling visitors what is going on?
Steps to a happier life:
1. Delete all webcomics in your links section and bookmarks. 2. Bookmark or Link to the following URL: http://cdc.keenspace.com 3. Never, ever link or bookmark any other webcomic again. 4. If you have a webcomic, delete it and promise to never work on it again. Instead redirect it to http://cdc.keenspace.com 5. If you meet anyone who has not done the steps 1-4, advise him/her to do so. Right away. 6. Thank you for supporting my webcomic. And enjoy your new, happier life!

I'd like to be recovering boardy, but it looks like it got offlined before I got to it. X_X

In case people care, I started noticing drive errors last night, and ... well didn't get a chance to do anything.

The forum just gave me:

I hope that doesn't mean it's spreading...

My site seems to be there... the ftp seems to be in order. My comic just won't update today and I can't log in to manually update it either.
Probably not at all helpful, but there you go.

I'm pretty sure that's what they meant by "Keenspace is down". :D

I've gotten this exact error myself now three times in the last two days. I suspect it's not related, if only because once the network gremlins sacrifice one server to their evil god, they are usually satisfied.

...any idea when we're going to get update capabilities back? Just wondering; It's not like I have readers or anything to disappoint, but I figured it would be a good thing to know (as lack of updating is shall we say disconcerting).

*does a dance to rid the server of the evil Update Gremlins*

...let me know if that helped anything :P

If you're extemely handy with the FTP, you can update it yourself. But be warned, it's a long and painful process.

looks like boardy isn't coming back up yet...

I've "un slaved" the db on ydk, please do not make any changes, in fact, I think I'll disable siteadmin2.

Autokeen will work as usual, just no manual updates, I can't let people make changes to the comic db in case boardy does come back up, otherwise I'll have an out-of-sync. (where some data is changed on two different servers)
