The "Ireland" comment...

Okay, as I go through the now two threads about this, one thing that keeps coming up is BJ's "I'm moving to Ireland if Bush gets reelected" comment.

Honestly now. You took that comment seriously?

Have none of you ever heard of an exaggeration?

How many times have any of you said to yourself or your friends while angry "If so and so does this, I swear I'm gonna go do this"?

That should be all of you.

Now how many of you have actually done it?

I didn't think so. Cause chances are what you swore to yourself or your friends you were going to do was either illegal or pretty dammed far-fetched.

Now this is the internet, and tone of voice and body posture and all those other convienent things that help you tell sarcasm in person aren't here. But BJ said he was pissed, and so I know his comments were out of anger, and somethings were not meant to be taken seriously.

But that's just my opinion.

I've been following a lot of those actualloy. Mostly since I generally go "IF this damn thing won't work in 5 minutes, I swear I'm going to get icecream before trying again"

But yes, people taking BJ moving to Ireland seriously do seem to be lacking one or two bolts.

Whoa whoa whoa - when were you censored, Franc28? I'm the only one (that I know of) with general delete authority on this board, and I haven't used it at all since the comic posted...gimme details, I'll check it out.

For me it's not that I took the comment itself seriously so much as I'm sick and tired of seeing that same comment repeated ad nauseum by everybody and his donkey with the only variation being the country they plan to move to.

That and I'm just upset about Jackie's Fridge taking a political turn in the first place.

I agree with Yun, I'm slightly disapointed at the political turn, because I read webcomics for entertainment, not to be bombarded by others political opinions.
I fully respect BJ's right to freedom of speech, and I can see where he's coming from, but we bicker enough about these things through other forms of media. For example, I may be only sixteen, but I've seen huge political fights (verbal ones, of course) break out among friends, myself included. We always blame the other side, and often times don't let ourselves really listen to the advantages of the 'opposing' force.

The major problem is that ALL governments at times forget they are there to do the right thing for the PEOPLE, and have no rights except those the general population allows them to have. Funny thing is, said people tend to forget this. If things go relatively okay and don't touch them directly, they tend to sit down and enjoy themselves rather than worry. This has cut down the number of uprisings in the Western world to a remarkably low, and possibly unhealthy number.

But anyway, politics are FUN! Really, with some of the things happening... Soap series have got NOTHING on it. Okay, so I'm slightly queasy about the world I'm standing on being run by organizations that are, for all intents and purposes, a joke.

I can't take comics that seriously. If someone states a political opinion, ok good for them. I dunno. Maybe my dad's long rants about the executive branch have made me ignore politics as much as possible

(dont ask my dad a simple question, such as: what is a justice? You'll be bored out of your skull for weeks.)
