I HATE the coloring on the legs, but the rest of it's not so bad

and I made the background very quickly, which is why it really looks cruddy

what exactly do you use to get your pencilled art onto your computer to color it in photoshop?
just a normal scanner on plain white paper?
i do it that way, but it usually looks fairly awful. yours look pretty good.
i'm thinking about inking everything before i scan it in, might help...

Pretty much it... pencil drawing (with a lot of erasing of useless lines often

) on white paper, scanned in with an ol' parallel port scanner (hey, it works, I'm not complaining).

A lot of it is based on my scanner settings, so I can get the best results when scanning. I usually do pencil/ink in a black-and-white mode, so I don't get a lot of useless noise

I'm VERY tempted to get a Wacom... course, I need cash for that...

I keep looking for Wacoms at work, since I'd get it at cost... grr... Dexxa made usable tablets, too, but Logitech bought Dexxa and discontinued them... look out for a Logitech tablet at twice the cost which bears a remarkable similarity to the Dexxa tablet... they've already done it with onea the Dexxa optical mice...

Heh, yeah, that proof paper picture is my pride and joy (of sorts). Proof that you don't need expensive stuff to be a decent artist.

(That, and my crayon rendering of an 8-ball)

I found my proof paper picture! and some pictures drawn in ink on canary yellow paper!

Maybe I should clean my room more often

i guess inking, waiting for it to dry, and then erasing the pencil around it is the way to go...
but i also set my contrast up and brightness down when scanning, when it should be the other way.

Well, I know some artists put a sheet of paper over their pencil sketch, then copy out the best lines in ink. I don't really have any way of doing that here (I think a lot of them have lightdesks

), but that's an idea.

Really, brightness/contrast settings should be used to clean up a lot of the random noise on your pictures, though you can play with them on the scanner itself to get different effects.

Better: LIGHT BLUE PENCIL! I found em at the school's bookstore for super cheap... you draw in the light blue, ink or pencil over it, scan in black and white, and adjust the contrast... the blue disappears! No more erasing for me...

Oooh... sounds like you're talking about Colerase

I've got some of those, they're kinda cool, though they're a tad more annoying to use than normal pencils ;P

Be careful that you don't press *too* hard, cause they will leave marks when you scan.

Yep, that's the one. I was there when she drew it. It's too bad that I can't find any more of that proof paper... It worked so well: Especially for the one page, single sided proofs

It was just too evil. I need more.
