Oh! I didn't know there was a name for it. Mokona, you might know something else I've wondered about: That thing a guy does when he's laughing & sorta embarrassed: puts one arm behind his head! (at least I've only seen guys do it) Is that an anime or a cartoon thing in general, I've barely seen any anime, but that gesture is always in there. I've never seen it in a US cartoon, but then maybe I don't pay too much attention. Plus I've never seen a real person do that either. If I'm just hallucinating it, nevermind!

Girls do it too, and yes, it's only an anime thing. Something else you'll only see in anime, most characters will at least attempt to cover their mouths when they laugh. In Japan, modesty and politeness are a big deal, and it's considered rude to show someone your teeth.
