If you were designing the perfect ranked list for webcomics what criteria would you want to be used?

hits on the comic' site? (total "views")
fan votes?
1 through 10 rating?

There is no perfect ranking system, because everyone has their own opinion. One person might think my strip was the funniest thing they'd ever read in their lives, whil the other might think it to be a completely retarded waste of time. Every single person, even if they went through and read every single strip on the internet, would still have a completely different list set up. A ranking by page views would easily become a popularity contest (and doesn't always find the best strips). The whole thing's subjective. In subjective ranking, there's always bias.

Clearly, the only way to accurately compare our skill is through naked mud wrestling contests.
Clearly.

You could to something like:

Visitors + Votes*100 + average grade*1000 = ranking grade
(multiplying numbers are examplary, they'd have to make all datas equally valuable for final grade.

Or you could just list your favorite comics and not worry about other people's opinions, I mean; who really cares what anyone else thinks?

Or maybe I'm just saying that because I'm jelous of all you people who actually get visitors to your comics!

bah! I agree with froggy, it's what I do on my links page. if you try to set up a rank structure, all you'll get are constant arguements and people trying to cheat the system to get their favorite comic to #1

To develop a new ranking grade, my friends, your toon must meet the following criteria:

a) You just get something like 1000+ visitors a day and they love you so much that they treat YOU like a god

b) You got lots and lots of boobs (No idea why)

c) You got so many people posting in your forum that whole thing is just a sidetracker

d) You just waste your time for no reason

e) Your drawing style is sooooo good that your plot sucks (sometimes)

Sheesh. Probably some folks are gonna kill me fer it.

hits nothing. some of the best web comics around have like 12 net readers (as opposed to gross readers).

the best ranking system is whether it makes you laugh or not.

Nah, we're all going to be too busy killing Joester.
Of course, I'm the one that isn't JP Sloan or Jim North.
