Looks like Allison's disease is finally rearing its ugly little head. And if Rikk manages to "save" one life only to come back to ne that's ending... let's just hope the FIB have come up with that cure, neh?

Okay-yup I'm new-ish, and I'm utterly torn here. . . I almost like Alisin, somtimes (flashback to her complete burn of the god of fandom ). . . But then I never did like her with Rikk. . . Always pictured Rumy/Rikk.

Don't really want her to DIE-- but if that's how it's gotta play

(Realizes this in no way furthered the topic, but felt chatty)

That last panel was brilliant. That may well have been the most abrupt cut from funny to dead (er, dying) serious in the comic . . .

Wow.

ACK! I must agree.... that was rather sudden and surprising.

Well... should been expecting something... 'speak of the devil' effect...

Eeee...I *really* hope that T doesn't kill Alisin off. It would shatter Rikk...and through him, it would shatter Rumy, and quite possibly the rest of the Skiffies as well.

I just hope that Jones was telling the truth when he pledged an end to heavy-handed FIB tactics...

Hey, the 'Hawaiian Shirt' incident certainly seems to support that, though. And hopefully they've got that virgin goddess extract...

Okay T, I know you said that this episode will leave Alisin changed as well, but I think I speak on behalf of all the Faans that we don't want those changes having anything to do with changing her vital signs from "on" to "off"....
I'll sing you one, O
Green grow the rushes, O
Where is your one O?
One is One, and all alone,
And ever more it shall be so.

Let me be the first to say WELCOME NABIKI!
Here at Fans! all input about the comic is welcome and appreciated by the humble and stunningly brilliant master of link-speak T!
Also, there's no off topic posts/threads as long as they have SOMETHING to do with fandom. Just be civil and respectful towards others and everything should be alright!

OK, now that I've done the intro spiel for what seems like the 5th time this week..........

Nabiki...I know you probably get jokes about your name or at least references from Otaku I have to make a comment.
go here: http://www.geocities.com/tee-moss/Swank ... abiki.html

That's that! Now onto the topic at hand!

ALISN'S DEATH.
As I posted elsewhere (I post in order of threadf, so sue me) I was not so much upset by this as I was shocked. Sure I was suprised to see such a light hearted page turn grim and the upswing of the week come crashing down, but T foreshadowed it perfectly with Rikk's absolute hope.

I'm getting more and more poled against alisin for some reason, maybe because I feel some sort of fatherly protection towards Rumy and I reaaaaally want her to be taken care of by Rikk. I need to review the Code Page as well as my own code soon.

As to her disease, think about this.
What if that's not blood, but is actually some black substance. Not to make any inky Framed!!! references but there are plenty of nasty diseases that liquify your innards.

Oh, and can someone tell me who John Gray is. The first person that came to mind wqas the black-nike cult leader but somehow I doubt that's the same demographic......

HEY! Speaking of demographics!
This could be part of the act! There is a chance that she's not really sick here but just coghing up some blood on purpose to turn on all those "medical fetish" guys out there.

You gotta remember (not to talk down to newbies but I can never be reminded enough) you CAN'T trust T to give you the whole story right away. He once told us how he felt when he guessed a bunch of the plot twists back when the boards opened in TMDG. Since then he's resolved to make things much harder to guess. Only a select few have earned the right to the Mad Theorizer's Crown since then.

All of which can be viewed on my Billberg University page.

[edit]
Just a quick adendum.
I just noticed that those shackles cloooosely resemble horshoes. She seems to have dropped her luck. Since they were leg restraints one could say she RAN OUT of luck.
Har Har Har!

I'm not sure I want to guess this ending. I don't think we can count on Jones' deus ex medicina. It seems just too easy. I hesitate to put forth other alternatives. Speculating on Alisin's death at this point just seems.. ghoulish.

Rikk has managed to save his first loves life, but in all things there must be a balance.....

No there mustn't.

Er, what I mean is: not necessarily.

Do you really think that T hasn't got the courage to have Alisin die, if that's what the story demands? Having an attractive character die may well be unpopular in the short term, but could be absolutely critical to the later development of the cast.

Nodrogise away, guys: I'm watching and waiting in antici - - - pation of significant plot development. There aren't enough clues yet for me to predict which way it will go.

her death would at least be realistic, but I think t would've given us more warning signs, like we knew clara was old, but there wre no forshadowing of her death. T's a good writer except if he's going to shock us all (which Id oubt it, this is more of a feel good comic) there'd be a lot of foreshadowing

Um... Wouldn't all that foreshadowing kinda defeat the "shocking" aspect of the whole thing?

Just a thought.

<i>Au contrare!</i> A clever writer can foreshadow till the cows come home and still make a shocker possible. When I was in college, one essay in the textbook showed how it was possible: the wording of the foreshadow text hinted in one direction, but left out just enough details that when the climax came along, it really was a surprise, even though if you read back, it made perfect sense.

True, but even the most clever writer can't always account for the intuitive leap.
