File sizes

You foolhardy fool! Keenspot is suffering deeply because of bandwidth problems, and yet you continue to destroy the earth!...What I meant to say is that you can easily squeeze a higher quality version of each comic into around 95 kilboytes. I just did. 400 kilobytes per comic is waaaaay too much... as in "death." Absolutely no 56kers will even take a second glance at your comic, and viewing it is even a little annoying for me, an avid cable user. Therefore, to increase viewers, make file sizes smaller.How to do this? Well I have PSP... if you don't have it or another similar program, download a trial version.Just reduce the colors to around 5 or 6... there is NO difference in the quality at that point. (For what I call "higher quality" but no change in the file size, do the next part.) Then just play around with the highlight/midtone/shadow colors, and you'll get rid of the grainy grey that seems to affect the backgrounds of the comics, AND have rather anti-aliased line drawings... all of this for the low low price of 95 kilobytes!I played around with the current comic (6/29)for about 45 seconds and got this:

I'm a bit annoyed myself at how long it takes for my comic to load.I don't want to bring Keenspace crashing down! I don't want my readers to be annoyed! I don't want to be annoyed!
Should I change all of the past comics or just do this to the new ones? ------------------

All of 'em, of course... only takes a minute or two to convert each one, and saves that amount of time a reader would have to go through to load the thing.Would you surf through an archive of strips that take a minute to load... each? <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif">

I'm not exactly sure I understand how to do it. What is PSP?
I tried to make them smaller a different way but they looked awful.

There, I just changed the older ones. Try those out. I still have about half the pages to change.
