Happy news. I've typed up the fifth chapter of the story. It's longer than the other chapters, that's for sure. In my head, Mira is 20 chapters long, though it could vary by a chapter either way, depending on how large I make the chapters, and how much detail that I write down and whatnot. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/wink.gif">

Actually, I do think about that kind of stuff. Facts and statistics!L. Frank Baum's Oz books contained an approx average of 30,000 words.The first two chapters of Mira contain over 5,000 words, and chapter 1 is extremely short. The means my book will average about 50,000 words, which isn't too bad, considering. Remember, the paragraphs on the internet are much larger, at least twice as much, as an actual page could comphortabley fit.Oz books tend to be short. I do want to have about three pictures per chapter - one chapter header, and two half page pics, or a half page and a full pager.The company I will be able to have publish my book is called Tails of the Cowardly Lion and Friends <A HREF="http://members.aol.com/LionCoward/home.html" TARGET=_blank>http://members.aol.com/LionCoward/home.html</A> . They run a rather simple operation, so a smaller book size is sometimes a benifit. Trust me, I've seen some very small books published by them, only 100 pages long - with illustrations, and then again I've seen the 300 page font size 10 book, the largest (and best, in my opinion) that they've done.Problem comes in with backlog. Quite frankly, it could be a one to two year wait for the book to be published, after I send it in. (just to let you know.. some of your first chapters.. like the online ones.. are really small. All together, I think the first 5 chapters would BARELY make 20 pages in a regular sized paperback. But.. you are going to have pictures.. which will take up some pages, and more ink.. And if you're thinking about cost... hmm.. I guess that makes sense that way.. but if all your chapters are that small.. this is going to be a short book!
Probably short enought that I could read it all in one day! (in 2 or 3 sittings maybe))Hmm.....
Do you ever think about that kind of stuff?-AC
