Whatever wrongs they did throughout the show were erased near the end when they had Clint Eastwood do the last spoken word bit, and Willie Nelson... well... Willie tried to do his thing, but those goddamn celebrities got in the way. Point being, who's more American then Clint and Willie? No one's more American than Clint and Willie! All sins are absolved.

Am I the only one who thought Bruce should've sung Born in the USA as opposed to the pussy song he did?
Anyway, the whole deal was sorta disappointing. I mean, it was for a good cause and all; that can't be denied. But I expected to see celebrities spinning plates and doing ventriloquism. I guess I just need clued in on the actual definition of a telethon.
------------------

i thought it was funny the way they just had all those celebrities standing behind willy, looking awkward and lip singing that song. they didn't have anything to do other than be there and look pretty.
i mean honestly. if you're going to book chris rock, you should at least have him tell a joke.
------------------

hi, by the way. no, listen to the lyrics a little more attentively. it's not a very patriotic song.

And they had Celine Dion, A Canadian, sing God Bless America! What the fuck is up with that?
Other than that, it was pretty classy. I hear just on the East Coast they raised 116 million. It's no Warp 9 auction for charity, but it's not bad.

We're talking about a two-hour long telethon that was shown here in America on just about every single television channel there is, which was to help raise money for the victims of the recent terrorist attacks.
------------------

Bruce Springsteen wrote "Born in the USA" about how American soldiers, whom fought in 'Nam, were treated badly upon their return to the states, I believe. It isn't exactly a patriotic song in origin.
Sure, song's are fun to personalize and create your own interpretation...but I think that would've a bit screwy for him to sing it on the telethon.

I was born in can-a-da.

Young was at his peak with CSNY. It's been downhill since then. He has an occassional moment of greatness, but overall he's nothing to write home about.

I didn't know Eddie Vedder was going to be on it, otherwise I wouldn't have avoided it like the plague. Anything with Julia Roberts a) being present and/or b) speaking gets a big, fat 'changing of the channel' from me. Ed could have kept my attention, though. The .3 seconds of him and Neil "I Write Great Songs But Can't Sing Them For Shite Maybe I Should Let Eddie Vedder Sing Them All" Young doing 'Long Road' had me floored.. wish I could have seen all of that performance. Them, and U2. I dig U2.
------------------

Young did Lennon's "Imagine."
And speak what you will, I'm a Neil Young fan. Not a huge fan, but he's done some good stuff.
