Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?
Good points, McDuffies. There will be build up, I just hope it doesn't come across like it went motorbiking up off some "very special episode" hamfistedness half-pipe. I'm going to try to avoid shmaltz and contrivance, luckily it's later on so I'll have a lot of time to ponder and experiment with the dialogue.
As for the romance, it's starting to come together better. Upon looking back at the dialogue, it's way less suggestive than it seemed when it first trickled out of my treesap brain. It's really not even PG-13. There's "suggestion," but the degree is pretty much entirely left up to the reader and I think that works well enough.
If I ever want to break out of this mold I can always just do my comic in pointillism nipples.

Redownloaded & installed GIMP on my new laptop. I wasn't observant about which version I installed, and it's different from the one I used to have. Not "everything is different so it feels like you're using a whole new program" different, but "little things/sections are different so certain things will be the same that you will take for granted until you suddenly and jarringly come across something unfamiliar" type different.

I immediately uninstalled the latest GIMP when I found out they changed hotkeys.

Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?
I penciled the crazy-ass opening scene of Freakboy's Ch. 2, and after I do the Santa New Year Whatever Thing, my plan's to pencil a few more pages and the cover background, and then batch ink it before going off hiatus. My goal's to get this done over a two-month period. (One month to finish pencils, and one month for inking, lettering, and editing.) Not sure how doable it is, but whatevs.

Tomorrow's page will be the end of the intro/first part/whatever of my still un-named comic. Woo!
I honestly can't come up with a non-lame title for this thing... leaning towards something like "A Shared Story" but not so lame.

For the current page I'm working on, I get to draw someone barfing. This is the second time I've done a page that literally made me gag a little.
Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?
Amazingly, I haven't gotten lazy or burnt myself out on my writing yet (though I am getting lazy about drawing the pictures). Still probably going to be at least the end of the year before the second novel is done, might be some time into 2015.
I would imagine getting the reference material for that isn't very fun.IVstudios wrote:For the current page I'm working on, I get to draw someone barfing. This is the second time I've done a page that literally made me gag a little.

Year and a half later, the end of my first chapter is in sight, and I think I've learned a lot from doing so. This chapter, 40% Whini on a rampage, 40% sound effects, 20% plot
Here's to chapter 2

I have an urge to make nice cover pages for my chapters. This is mostly because I really want to make a cover page for this coming one.

There was also advice on Bugbear bellybuttons and nipples and how to sharpen a pencil in space. I learn so much at these live draws.
