Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?
Writing a review for someone else and having trouble articulating why certain aspects are bothering me. Also the site has been having trouble loading images today- usually if I click a page once it'll load, but if I need to go back to check something on a preceding page it won't load :/
Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?
Realizing I'm nearing my comic's first birthday, I've kicked my ass into gear getting my new layout done. I took today off so I could get a root canal done (uuugghhh), but also took advantage of the crazy amount of sick leave I have to have a nice totally hopped up on vicoden day of designing and getting my layout hammered in. There's no better way to deal with the frustration of HTML hiccups than feeling like everything is groovy baby

Working on coding while on prescription pain medication sounds like trying to play drunk tetris.djracodex wrote:Realizing I'm nearing my comic's first birthday, I've kicked my ass into gear getting my new layout done. This is (one of the reasons) why I scheduled an entire month to work on my site. I might still be making version n+1 before launch day.djracodex wrote:Realizing I'm nearing my comic's first birthday, I've kicked my ass into gear getting my new layout done. How is my comic doing? It's 9 days till launch day which is also my exam day and I've a rediculous amount of revising to do. I shouldn't even really be on here now. Launch day will come and once I've put all the comics into the right folder it'll all pretty much run itself for 6 weeks. Good old phase 2.
Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?
I just whipped through what was easily the fastest lineart I've ever done, drawing 4 panels for a new comic in about 40 minutes.
The quality is probably slightly less than normal, but I'm pretty sure the truth is that no one will notice or care. And it's one way to keep me from getting bored of drawing my old comic.

Shoulda bought a stopwatch back then.
This makes me wonder what's the fastest time I've ever drawn a comic in. It was almost certainly for a jam.Terotrous wrote:I just whipped through what was easily the fastest lineart I've ever done, drawing 4 panels for a new comic in about 40 minutes.
Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?
I've drawn filler comics and other quickies faster than that, but that was the fastest full comic I think I've done.

Reminds me of thisMcDuffies wrote:Fastest things I've done were Grumpy comics.

and this

First was made because I was despairing at the number of "crazy stuff happens" comics and the second I was just really feeling "meh". This might also be the origin of a comic about personality aspects, they're certainly both the same colours as Intelligence and Wisdom, even if the yellow guy seems more like Aggression.

I went to see what's new over at The Webcomic Overlook, and oh, shit.

That put a smile upon my face when I saw it this morning!LibertyCabbage wrote:I went to see what's new over at The Webcomic Overlook, and oh, shit.
(A touch disappointed at the inclusion of Shitty Webcomics tumblr, though. It's one of the few review sites I'd say is actively worse than Bad Webcomics Wiki. But I suppose some people like it anyway)

Agreed, it barely qualifies as a review site, it's more of a random screed. Way to go LC, though!

Thanks! Of course, I gotta give credit to VCC and the other contributors as well.Komiyan wrote:Way to go LC, though!
I don't really mean to toot my horn, though. I guess I'm more bewildered about it than anything. To me, making webcomics is more difficult and stressful than writing reviews, and it's not just the drawing part; collabs are pretty intense as well. The Webcomic Police is essentially a side project that's accidentally starting to get kind of popular, while I don't really expect any of my current or future webcomics to get front page'd anywhere notable. (Not that The Webcomic Overlook is super-big-time, but it's a relatively well-known site.)
I never heard of Shitty Webcomics before this. I'll have to check it out.
Oh, and I forgot that I actually had something on-topic to post. The page I'm working on now has been really quick. I guessed that I'd be short on time, so I changed the layout from five panels to three, used some pretty straightforward poses, and gutted the backgrounds. I should be able to get the inks and lettering done tonight without having to stay up too late. It ain't really ideal, but I'd rather have a weak page than a late page.

The best thing about that tumblr is it got me looking for other shitty art tumblrs which I can now waste more of my life reading.Sortelli wrote:omg this shitty webcomics tumblr hahahaha

Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?
ugh I gotta stop. On one hand this site is incredibly refreshing, I mean... there are a lot of comics here that I abandoned long ago and could just never return to no matter how many times I was told they were GREAT and FANTASTIC and such and it's like finding a secret club of people who validate my previously held opinions. I LOVE THAT SHIT.
It's bad for the soul though, worse than stealing forty cakes. Gotta get back on the positive and make some comics and not worry about picking other things apart or getting picked apart.

Yeah, I only got through four post before it got vaguely racist and and then implied a woman deserved to be sexually intimidated because she "knew what she was getting into before hand." So yeah, don't think I'll be keeping up with that one.

Clearly you are just so brainwashed by the feminist agenda.Yeahduff wrote:That seems.... off-topic.
I remember when I found the blog, and I was like oh cool! Oh cool! Then I got to some of those posts and it was one of those things where you kind of laugh it off, hoping the person isn't serious because you kind of like the rest of the content/style, but then it comes up again and you just kind of back away slowly.
It's like when you find out a kid you went to high school with got arrested for spray painting a swastika on someone's house. Your initial shock fades to disappointment, then ultimately to "Welp, we only hung out during woodshop anyway."
