cool, ya finally upgraded to the UBB... now I can post more comfortably than with that darn guestbook (I always feel stupid, signing a guest book more than once or twice)
anywho, apparently, mike is a fan of pokemon (then again, who isn't). and about that "lost" episode that they butchered to get onto american airwaves... well, I bought one of the pokemon vhs tapes (actually, it was two tapes, I got them bundled together at a store called "macfrugals" for 7 bucks. I wouldn't have bought it otherwise)... anyway, where was I? oh yes, one of the VHS tapes, entitled "fasion victims" has Ash getting all prettied up, to enter the gym as "Ashley," since they won't let him in because he ridiculed the importance of "perfume". I didn't see this on the tv, but then again, I didn't pay quite as much attention to the first season of the cartoon, anyway. (I just played the games)
but yeah, its kinda ridiculous... I mean, are transgendered themes such a horrible topic that they have to rip it to shreds to get it onto a childrens television program? I mean, really... I could have easily spared a majority of my own depression if I'd seen "my issues" on television as a child, so that i'd known that maybe, just maybe, i wasn't alone in feeling as I do.
then again, this past saturday, James did get all dressed up as a balerina, so who knows? maybe the boobs were just too much to allow.
------------------

my issues? lets just say I have a bit in common with james and bugs bunny. :-p
but really, my parents... I blame them, personally. my dad likes guys, my mom likes women, and here I am, born into the wrong gender. I think its becuase I got a double-shot of "gay-genes"
but really, I suppose it could be worse.... it is still quite jarring, and.. well, I am lucky in the sense that I pass as the girl I *really* am without trying (to the point that I've been hit on by straight men)... and before I was born, the doctor's told my parents I was going to be a girl, and I slipped out, and when I *wasn't quite that* my dad shot the original plan of naming me "allison" down and named me after an obscure reference to male genitalia.
--Allison "peter" Axe

I didn't see this on the tv, but then again, I didn't pay quite as much attention to the first season of the cartoon, anyway. (I just played the games)
Being the cartoon buff that I am, they DID show the Ashley episode. The episode they didn't show until they butchered it, was the one where they are at the beach and James is wearing a bodysuit with women's breasts on them. In the Japanese version, he starts to play with them.
but yeah, its kinda ridiculous...
No. Bugs Bunny dresses in drag three million times. In fact, there are a lot of children's cartoons out there with these themes. Static Shock is supposed to also cover certain issues...I forgot what though. I think it was something like anorexia, teen violence, and some other crap. Maybe teen pregnancy I dunno.
then again, this past saturday, James did get all dressed up as a balerina, so who knows? maybe the boobs were just too much to allow.
No they still showed that episode with the boobs. I think they just took out the part where he's playing with them.
Now go watch Freakazoid. A true classic.
