Well, we've got to see today's page fits in with Union Jackie. However, those satan-ists remind me a bit of the vampire LARPers...
Is it just me being too hopeful, or does anyone else think there is a very good chance we're going to see Miller and Sully.
-possible dialogue-
Rick: "I don't trust you."
Miller: "I know."
Miller lights cigerette.
Rick: "I had thought we killed you."
Miller: "False dawn."
Rick: "I know... now. That's why I said 'had thought'."
Miller: "You need my help to save your friend Will from that ring... and I want the ring."
Rick: "No thanks... I remember what happened to your last partner."
Sully: -appearing behind Rikk- "Oh realy?"

Oooooh, or the ring goes on Union Jackie's finger, and Will needs to be teamed up with Miller and Sully.

(Suddenly redecorates the forum with dozens of six-foot candlesticks...)
You consider me a young apprentice/
Caught between your Scylla and Caribdis/
Hypnotized by you if I should linger/
Staring at the ring around your finger/
I have only come here seeking knowledge/
You they would not teach me up in college/
I can see the destiny you sowed/
Turn into a shining band of gold/
I'll be wrapped around your finger...
There are times I wish The Police never broke up.
FP (who will never be mistaken for Sting--or Phil Collins for that matter)

I was mistaken for Sting once. I was running around naked waving a knife over my head screaming "I will kill him!" and everyone gave me all the deference a big rock star deserves. It was pretty cool. The police (as in cops, not backup band) even showed up and hustled me away from the srcreaming papperazzi. Then it got weird...
Maccabee

Looks like Jackie is carrying a bag from the store... possible she's a Satan-ist?
If so, what's her reaction going to seeing the ring? Is Will's infatuation with her enough to keep him from doing what's right?
-future dialogue-
Sully: "Face it, Will, you need us."
Will: "How do you figure?"
Miller: "Simple. You're normal support group is scattered... and even if you could call them to help, it would meen calling Katherine."
Sully: "And there's the reason you need help in the first place, in order to free Jackie from the ring's influence."
Will: "Which is?"
Sully: "You don't hit girls."

Harkonen back to the subject at hand...
If this is supposed to be a LotR parody, then UJ probably is meant tobe one of the characters from the book... but which?
The two I'd guess right now are either Samwise or Gollum. Either one seems equally likely right now.

------------------

Ahem. My attempt at a collation of name similarities/roles:
Bill Beaux (the shop proprietor who gives Will the ring) = Bilbo (all too easy...)
Gone-Ralph = Gandalf
Sorryman = Saruman
Will AKA. "Fred" = Frodo (he bears the ring)
More*Con = Mordor (where the ring's power can be broken - even if it's not by tossing it into a volcano)
The Satan-ists = N

All of these in jokes are just Atreides.. er I mean atrocious. Just kidding. I am really enjoying the story. Are the fans going to portray the Nine walkers? And if so, Who wil be compared to Who? Just food for thought.

I wish I'd read The Hobbit now. I caught the most obvious references, of course, but as for the rest, I know nearly nil about the books. I've been meaning to pick them up for a while now.
Aurora

Well, from Will's cellular conversations I get the impression that Shanna and Rumy will be joining him, making them (with Jackie) the four hobbits. Shanna to be Merry and Rumy Pippin??? (the Tooks being more "foreign" - grasping at straws, I know). Jackie is certainly acting the part of Sam, having overheard Will-Fred-o's conversation with Gone-Ralph (but not by hiding underneath the windowsill).
I suspect the rest of the Nine will be from outside the main cast, since they will be analogous to the other races in LoTR: Aragorn and Boromir, Legolas and Gimli. If LoTR timeline is in effect, the next one we should meet is the Aragorn-analog.
Muttley

Well, I have read the Hobbit before, and promised myself that I would read LoTR someday. Then when I heard the movies were coming out, I promised myself I would read each book before each movie came out. Of course, I had each book, somewhere, and now I can't find them. And finding them used seems almost impossible. So I bought Fellowship of the Ring new and have started it.
So perhaps I will be able to catch the references if I'm diligent in my reading.
--Tuscahoma

I'm still a little dismayed that nobody caught the thing about people not knowing Sting from Phil Collins.

*WARNING* *WARNING*
(due to the flu, Skyrider is now under heavy antibodics, any rant should be taken with a grain of salt less then usual)
FP, I have never, ever, ever, mistaken Phil Collins for Sting. I believe that both are British and sing, that is where their similarities end. Sting actually sets out in my mind as a pretty good villian (Dune and the Labrinth). Phil Collins busted as a good guy (can't remember the one, but he was a down and out thief... oh of course, Buster). *shrugs* But then again, at least they aren't like a certian Auzzie that likes to run around in a kilt. Or a man who played a whole movie on an island with a volley ball as a co-star... Well my head is now swimming with about a few grams of medicine... I think I will go to bed now.
------------------

Actually, David Bowe's the villain in Labyrinth.
Though as Sting and Bowe are both weird British rock musicians with blond hair and some very neat songs, I can see how the mistake came up.
