It must be a season for beta-testing or something
DuffWriter
This is something I've been working on for a while, it's a program for writing, planning, organizing story elements.
Thing is, there's a lot of programs like this on the market, none of them seemed to support some peculiarities of my writing process, so I set out to write one on my own, basically covering things that I thought I might needed. I also wanted it to be lightweight and not overwhelm me with functionalities I'd end up never using.
In the end, it seemed too good not to be shared, but it also has a fair share of bugs and holes, things that I forgot and things that I could have implemented but wasn't sure if they were really all that essential.
So I'll be very happy if people check this out, play around with it, see if they can find use for it and get back to me with any comments they have.

Doesn't seem to want to run for me. What version of Java did you build it in?McDuffies wrote:Just unpack it and start the .jar file.

Likewise. I click it and nothing. Proving your program is not idiot proof. Or at least not this idiot.thepastelsuit wrote:Doesn't seem to want to run for me. What version of Java did you build it in?McDuffies wrote:Just unpack it and start the .jar file.

Apparently jre 6, jdk 5... I guess I'll have to see what I can do about it.

i think in mcduffies' program, the real program comes from within. you need to search within yourself

Ok, I bundled the jar with jre, so now file is like 10 times larger and slower to install and windows-only but let's see if it works.

Playing round with it ATM, learning what it can do and how to do it.
First things I can find:
When I start it up it comes up with the message: "Directory cannot be created", but when I click "ok" it seems to work fine, so I'm not sure what it's on about.
I named my first project then (after a bit) started a new one, then I couldn't name that one, it kept the old project's name.
It doesn't always seem to register when I click stuff.
When I go to load an existing file the compatable files don't show up, but they do when I change it to showing all files.
Other than that I'm having fun playing with it. Probably should read the help files soon.
