well lessee, i suppose this would be the best place to talk about this stuff, so who here enjoys j-pop? hmm? has anyone ever heard of megumi hayashibara? scuz i love her! ^_^ i wanna get some of her cd's but i have no money, because i have no job, and that's because i've got something of a bad rap for working here(i can explain if you all want me to) but, if i had the money i would definitely buy her cd's by the space shuttle load and sit in my room in j-pop bliss lol. but i'm talking now. your turn!!

The only j-pop/j-rock song I like is Malice Mizer's "Transylvania," but I definitely think a punk or goth band should cover it. The song would sound much better either half as fast or twice as fast, and if it wasn't as synthesized. But that's what I think.

J-pop makes me want to tear out my own eyeballs, ears, and any other organs which could detect the stuff. I can't think of any possible reason to enjoy it any more than, say, the bubblegum pop output of the USA...
Gimme a moment, I'll think of a good J-pop track.
No, wait, I can't.
Well, when it comes to pop which happens to have Japanese roots, I do like Shonen Knife...
------------------

My sister listens to a LOT of j-rock... Gackt, Malice Mizer, Glay and a whole bunch of other stuff I'm not into.
I really like Cornelius though Fantasma is one of my fave CDs and some of Kahimi Karie's stuff is ok too...
Kinda unusual stuff for me to listen to, since I like punky stuff mostly...

what ar eyou guys talkin about? lol J-pop rocks this planet. i don't understand why people DON'T listen to this stuff. it ownz...but, that's just my opinion. it makes me happy, and it has the special bonus of sounding like a lot of the mega man music i used to listen to as i played each game when i was young, so i suppose that's why i love it.

Yeah, but I hate game music, and now I'll probably never like J-pop after you brought that up.
And for people who hate it, J-pop may suck, but it will never reach the depth of hell where they play Jennifer Lopez on the loudspeakers.

Australian indie rock, mostly. Something for Kate, Gerling, Gota Cola, george, Shihad (well, New Zealanders living in Australia...), Kim Salmon, diana ah naid, Lazy Susan, Augie March, Stella One Eleven, Powderfinger (probably can't call 'em terribly indie anymore, they're several times platinum and they played Letterman recently, ha), Fur, Frenzal Rhomb, Skulker, Big Heavy Stuff, SixFtHick...
Internationally, oh, Radiohead, Pulp, Badly Drawn Boy, Massive Attack, Tricky, Muse, Nine Inch Nails, Mercury Rev, Shonen Knife, Beck, REM, The Donnas, The Cure, Pavement (RIP, but Stephen Malkmus comfortably lives on), Queens of the Stone Age...
And so on and soforth. Tell me what you like, Selina!
------------------

I've got Fantasma, and there's a remix of The Microdisneycal World Tour on Sushi 4004 (a Jclubpop compilation I highly recommend). If you want to get more Cornelius, then CDNow stock a couple more CDs:
http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/SI ... Robin - Arigatou for the link I saw those CDs a while ago in London but didn't buy them. I doubt I'd find them there now ^_^
James - I like the Manic Street Preachers, Mansun, Idlewild, Radiohead, Nirvana, Muse, Placebo, Blur, Cornelius, King Adora, Suede, Sex Pistols and some ridiculously happy bands like Supergrass and Symposium (which I'm sure can permanantly damage ones sanity if exposed to too much). And a whole load of other stuff I used to like but can't be bothered to mention
I don't buy anywhere near as much music as I used to, so I'm not into it as much anymore. Maybe I should download more!
Oh yeah, I went to see Muse live last night they were very good! One of the best I've seen (not that I've seen many bands...)

While we're talking bands, does anyone know anything about a group called Hum? They had a song called "Stars" that barely hit the charts a few years back. I downloaded some of their music and have really gotten into it.
Anybody out there know who they are or what happened to them?

Has anyone else heard the song 'Fantastic Cat' by Takako Minekawa? Bwahaha that's the first song in ages which has made me laugh
OK, I admit it. I just had to reply to see one of those little firey gifs or whatever-you-get-for-having-a-busy-topic

Wow! *bows down to Robin* I haven't even tried working out the lyrics yet Takako has such a sweet accent
Moloko always make me think of the book 'A Clockwork Orange'. I have to resist the temptation to talk in that strange slang lol.

Lol Selina, we think alike. I've got a friend who can speak perfect nadsat in Alex's voice ^_^
Edit: Btw, everyone who likes Jpop should get a copy of Vib Ribbon on the Playstation (Japanese and European only, not out in the US). The band who did the music are called 'Laugh and Beats', and are amazing
[This message has been edited by Robin (edited 04-15-2001).]
