I finished drawing comic #630 and probably the last daily. doing a daily is too mush work. the series will continue but as a weekly.

finished 'Galactic Patrol lensman' by E.E. doc Smith. what an awesome book. I can't wait to finish the series. sure the science is a little out dated but since one can't prove theoretical physics its okay by me.

also finished 'Midshipmen Hornblower' by C. S. Forester. I liked the movies and thought I'd read the books. it was really good. though I dislike British imperialism I can't help but enjoy it it. plus the name 'indefatigable' is awesome and was a real ship. what a great word, indefatigable!

coke products were 4 for 10$ at the store what a deal!

This might sound lame, but I discovered the VLC Media Player today, and I fell instantly in love. Now I can play MP4 and M4V files, and I can take screencaps! Now I can make memes and animated GIFs out of obscure TV shows and movies again.

Book 6 of the Merchant Princes series by Charles Stross released, and it was on on the Sony book store so I could download it! Also I'm 34 days away from flying away from this desert, possibly forever.

FUCKING AWESOME IMPROV SHOW!!! MARCH'S MISERY HAS BEEN REDEEMED BY APRIL'S AWESOME!

We had a much bigger crowd, great performers, and it was high energy. While I think the others focused too much on sex, gender, and race related jokes, I did what I do best: provide balance. I was on my A-game tonight and had plenty of wisecracks and high energy antics that were funny without resorting to working "blue". Even when I didn't, I kept it racy but dignified.

Best of all, I saw one of my Soldiers from Iraq who was one of the two that went home early on medical issues (not related to Iraq) and was yanked from the unit during his medical processing. I didn't recognize him because he'd gained a lot of weight and I only knew him for a few months.

So, tonight has been fantastic.

I have been having some *issues* with research lately. But things are looking up!

I had a talk with my advisor and he was like, "look if you're not happy you can switch research groups, you should be happy"

So I talked to my surface science professor today about maybe switching into his lab.

Turns out he just got a buttload of funding for neat stuff, and he's looking to recruit people, and it's all stuff with metals, and he's all "Are you okay with getting your hands dirty and building instruments and working in the metal shop?" and I'm like OMG YES!

Things are looking up!

(Also exam got postponed yippee!)

I met Tom Shear from Assemblege 23, and got to talk about synths with him for a while, at the Show tonight. Also the show was ridiculous. Aside from a fight breaking out in the smoking patio, and me picking up a 250 pound idiot, and managing to get cut on his spikes... it was pretty awesome.

It was really an amazing night. Girl I'm seeing loves Electro (first time for me actually), and for the first time in like forever I got to enjoy an electro band (yes band, as Tom has an accompaniment synth player for the live show-- for anyone being particular) with someone other than my main crew of rivethead friends. And then we went to this jewish deli and had garden burgers and french fries. I can't think of a better night I've had in quite some time.

That's what they want you to think. :shifty:

I've given up on expecting my girl to like my music. If she did, she'd probably be some kinda nut anyways.

Got the new Gorillaz album last week, been listening to it pretty exclusively since sometime on Tuesday. It's been a while since I got an album that I could connect with as much as this one.

Decided to buy a 2011 Ford Mustang. Got like a $3000 discount, plus I got to pick my own options. I picked a blue one.

I love Gorillaz. I should've picked up their new album when I was out shopping yesterday.

It might just be because I'm still in the honeymoon period, but I think this is their best album yet.

Very nice!!!! I too can relate to that "new car owner" feeling. Congratulations on your new baby, may she run swift and true for as long as you own her.

I like Demon Days more. Though it may be because I'm more pop than hip hop, and this one has less melodies and more beats. But then, I always thought that pure, old-fashioned pop songwriting is one of Damon's strongest assets, and we haven't seem much of it lately.
Best part were Jean-Michelle-Jarre-alike keyboard riffs.

I can agree with that. I like the way Demon Days flows as a whole album more, especially the last few tracks, but I think in terms of production quality Plastic Beach is even better. Though my opinion on this may change after I've had a few more weeks to "break it in," so to speak.

I listened to Demon Days daily for months solid. I'm still not tired of it, although I've moved on to other albums to obsess over. I wouldn't mind a beat-heavy Gorillaz album, because it's always great guest talent, and it's always been pulled off so well. The hip hop tracks from both the first album and Demon Days have been my favorite tracks. So, cool; looks like I'll be getting Plastic Beach in a day or two.

They've got, like, Lou Reed on this one.
The only thing I mind about Demon Days is that I can no longer enjoy Dare or Dirty Harry because of how much they played them on TV back then.

Granted this day has been shitty as all hell, I'm glad I've had my in-laws here to help keep me sane today.
