The art:
Okay the first thing that caught my eye in this one was Miss Tex's face, oh grife that face, with no offence meant to your style that face just looks weirdly drawn the way that nose sticks off the side of the face.
Once again I must praise your use of hatching to add a sense of volume and texture to the image.
The line-work has nice variation, fairly smoothly done with the exception of the table which I am going to assume was rushed to complete at the end of the hour.
The cloudy background adds a nice sense of actual volume to the environment, the picture isn't just floating on a white background.
The stiffness of the pharaoh as opposed to Miss Tex would normally be a little jarring but, assuming you drew it this way on purpose, it works for an ancient Egyptian.
And finally the boobs, the undershading gives a great sense of volume and they're positioned a lot better than some I've seen but the cleavage line just isn't right.
The gag:
Ah yes the old I've never played before gag, believe it or not people actually try that line in real life, and I am no longer allowed at a certain local club because of my reaction to said line.
As a joke it's not that funny and the insertion of the cellphone is a bit sloppy.

The art:
First impressions are good on this one, the composition is nicely balanced.
Line-work is mostly smooth on this image, with a fair amount of variation but again, as with last time, the bold outlines don't quite blend with the inner lines where body-parts overlap such as the jaw outline but again this is more a personal taste thing.
The ghost is nicely drawn, the subtle transparencies are a very nice touch.
A bit of sloppiness is evident in the way the car is drawn but the way the rest of the picture is composed makes it so one would not really notice unless they were looking for it.
The gag:
The ghost? Let me guess death by pun?
Beyond that I'm guessing the joke is one of those "wacky guy isn't as funny as he thinks things"?

The art:
Your storybook styling creates an interesting twist on what could potentially be a bland or macabre scene, and that is one rather cute satan, I'd be tempted to give him a noogie.
Line-work and shading is a little sloppy in the second frame, especially on Satan where the hatching is uneven and overlaps in many places.
Still on Satan for a moment, the anatomy here is very sloppy with the noodly arms and misshapen body, which I'll have to
assume (based on the decent anatomy of the rest of the image) is a result of rushing to complete.
The scribbly background is more consistent than your previous entry and rather fitting for the gloomy atmosphere needed for the setting.
Also if I didn't know I was supposed to be looking for Texas in the picture I would not have had a clue what that shape was, but then again if I was to draw one of Australia's states I would be surprised if an American recognized it so this is more a cultural thing than an artistic one.
The gag:
Those guys don't strike me as the brightest in the box, they don't quite seem to grasp the seriousness of their situation.
The joke itself would have worked just as well without the final subtitle.

And a final note to all:
Integration of the elements here was a little on the sloppy side, in each one there seemed to be at least one element which was just sandwiched in because it was required rather than thoughtfully integrated.

Haha, thanks RobboAKAscooby (can we really just call you scooby?). Yeah I messed up bigtime with the shading in the second panel, by the time I realized it it was too late though, so I figured I'd blaze on by. Regarding Satan, I dunno I just wanted him to look kinda deformed and noodly for some reason, but he definitely could have been stylistically formed a lot better.

While the use of Egyptian mythology was an original move I'm afraid the creative opportunity was squandered in setting it all in the clouds. I would have liked to see how you would have handled this in a more appropriate setting. Also, while you mentioned it, you didn't incorporate the cell phone element visually. I'm going to refrain from complaining about the beak, this round, because I know its an anime thing, but seriously at least put a curve on that thing. You brought out texture pretty well on the card table and the clouds, though the rim had some unnecessary lines. Movement has been conveyed through motion lines but simple line variation would serve the same end.
IVstudios wrote:Image
With black and white you really need to use patterns in order to convey texture, and I think this is very evident in the sand. You can really only tell from the context clues like the cacti. You should be taking full advantage of your medium. Again the elements have been used sequentially, made only more evident by the conversation, though less blunt than last time. There was improvement but there's room for more.
The ghost came out really well, both in design and in execution. The transparency look really takes advantage of the black and white format.

I actually have to disagree with Robby on the line work, I think the background walls really convey the look of a smooth cave wall in a really dark place. Like, I can tell this is hell before I see that devil. On the characters, though, the shading lines on lack consistency, and this does come off as a bit jarring and therefore, sloppy. Combining the cell phone and Texas elements was very creative on two fronts, used in each panel and gets mondo creativity points. This was hands down the most creative entry this round. Your characters are also full of movement even in the sedentary style.

EEP! man harsh. but I can't really disagree with either critique, except for the "nose" issue but we've already had that argument.
I couldn't think of a good joke so I drew boobs, when all else fails draw boobs.

Thats a fine policy.

By the way, I don't recall requiring you guys to tell a joke, so if wanted to be serious thats totally in line with the rules.

In haven't heard back from Carlos, so I guess he bailed. If anyone wants to replace him on the judge panel let me know.

...but anyway Scooby and I came to an easy unanimous decision. The artist being eliminated from this round will be Victory, on account of not producing anything.
I would normaly take this time to explain why we made the decision we made in more detail, but nothing more needs to be said. Thanks for showing up at the very least, Victory!

OMGTHAT'DBESOCOOL

I mean

Yeah that'd be very nice of you, Serge. Thanks!

Also thanks for the critique. Yeah, I'm pretty unreliable with shading, particularly hatching. That's something I'll need to work on.

Yeah, Charlos is a busy boy and has to resign his judgeryness. He's been busy at work and such lately so I figured I'd disclose this information.

I don't think an extra ten minutes will wreck this event.

You have one hour to draw a scene depicting the following elements (please use one as a setting)

Paradox
Tank
Psychology
Ninja

You have until 8:00PM.

Again with the getting of the better idea halfway through the production :( Gah. This was a particularly frustrating one for me.

I couldn't come up with anything I really liked this time, and I couldn't get into the drawing.

this was the most fun yet. What a crazy set of elements. I'm really happy with this one. I was having a really bad day and thought I was going to struggle but it was a breeze.
