It's a glitch in the system that has been running for several months now.

Any chance of reverting to a previous build of SiteAdmin, before this issue occured? If not, then maybe looking at the old code to figure out where the glitch is happening?

The "glitch" is not a glitch. It was caused by an update of the Forum (the logins for the Forum, SiteAdmin and the CGWiki are all interlinked).

phpBB updated their forum software with a new security patch which is not compatible with the codes written for CG. So Kisai and STRredWolf have to re-build the login thingy for SiteAdmin. Or rather, had to. Latest news from Kisai is that the new version of phpBB (3.0.6 just realeased in November) has a changed password scheme. This means that all previous work at fixing SiteAdmin is wasted and needs to be re-started.

Before people start asking - the forum pretty much has to be updated as updates are released in order to stay on top of the latest anti-spam and security measures. An old forum is a forum vulnerable to attack.

Options are currently being looked at.

Update: Good news, just not great news.

Members who are unable to get into SiteAdmin can use QuickAdmin to trigger manual updates. Other SiteAdmin features are not available. For more information, go to the first post in this htread and read the December 15th update. There is more information you need to read there.

I was able to upload my latest comic (Dec. 30), but I also want to update my dropdown menu. Cyberduck won't let me connect to the Comic Genesis FTP server, even though I'm using my Comic Genesis FTP username and password. When will I be able to upload text files again?

I have also found myself unable to login to FTP. I am using FileZilla and I didn't change any settings but when I tried to update a page yesterday I got the following after it tried to authenticate my password:

Response: 530 Login authentication failed
Error: Critical error
Error: Could not connect to server

I am a long-time user and it's (usually) always worked in the past. Is there a problem with the system right now?

Same here, Filezilla is getting slapped upside it's head with a critical error.
Also, my comic panel appears to have only uploaded about 80% using the siteadmin thingie, the bottom 20% is a garbled mess.
Sadly, it actually appears to have improved my artwork.

I too suddenly lost the ability to log into the ftp this morning with a 530 login authentication error popping up. (tried a couple different ftps to cut out variables, didn't help.)

@ Asylumheights, MSPcomix, Synaptic-misfires, Gloria and JHVipond: There was a DOS attack on the server which has been documented in other threads. Everything ought to be working again as it was before.

The Web FTP isn't working for me. It's letting me log on, but whenever I try to update my index.html, it just doesn't save it. Any advice?

This is probably going to be redundant, and something others have asked, but what am I doing wrong? I signed up weeks ago and have still been unable to log in to siteadmin. I've tried wading through the tutorials and different threads, have changed things I found I was doing wrong (capitalize username, etc), but still get message "username invalid" every time I try to login.

Help?

You can't log into SiteAdmin (at the moment).

SiteAdmin is out of action until further notice, no idea if / when a replacement system will be available.

You can update. Updates are done via FTP uploads. SiteAdmin is just for tweaking a few settings and triggering manual updates. You'll be able to run your comic just fine without SiteAdmin.

I have signed up. I signed up with my forum.. I can login into it. I have a webstie. http://ratbuddy.comicgenesis.com/ But I can't even login into the freaking siteadmin...its driving me nuts. Is the login and password the same as my forums?

I am unable to log onto siteadmin. My site was not up the first couple of days so I waited for it to show and it still won't let me sign on. I had my friend log onto their account from my computer and it worked for them but they had to log in multiple times before it actually let him onto his account. I joined 3/16/2010 so I have given it time to put me into the records.
