Probably has to do with the fact that in comics, pretty much a different person does each one of those.
On that note, many artists who've worked with Liefield comment on how much they hated inking/coloring/etc his work

I always thought that he did those kind of things intentionally, like that mangled perspective or bee waists or whatever. He probably thinks that it looks cool or badass, and there's a modest army of fans that thinks that that's how superheroes should be drawn, exagerated to extremes, defying anatomy, gravity and, apparently, perspective. With bunch of random blobs under the skin instead of muscles.
Of course, there are telltale signs in liefeld's art that suggest that he hasn't had his share of life drawing classes anyway.

Wow, everybody's drawing that catgirl. that's pretty flattering. :D I mostly drew her as a joke, throwing several different memes together. See, I had this idea for a multi-player game based on pop culture memes. Robots, monkeys, cat girls, pirates, ninjas, Cowboys, etc. I would call it a MemeMO.

to give liefeld and the other image guys some credit they were, at the time, doing things that hadn't been done before and they did move a lot of books. I was seduced by them and still have a stack of their book. now looking back i much prefer the other artists of the day like David Gibbons or Barry Windsor Smith.
Its pretty easy to tell which artists have had some formal art training and which ones have never had a real art teacher. unfortunately many fans don't care. But i think its hard to appreciate the really good artist if you haven't study art a little.
and a professional inker and colorist can make a shit penciler look good.

here's my take on the catgirlsteampunkninja. thought iId draw a little more realistic, with normal sized breasts.

MM, is it bad or good that the character you made up to take the piss out of steampunk and anime is getting so much fanart? XD

It's a proof that anything can become popular provided that it has sufficiently big boobs.

Also I have these Captain Americas. Couldn't bother to do justice to the randomly crawling highlights tho.

I dig this catgirl a lot. Though if I was going to play this game, I'd create a flat chested one.

The forgotten little brother no one knows about, overshadowed by his awesome and beautiful older sister.

Partially because of his blandness. If anyone wants to take a stab at making him exciting feel free.
