Re: Anime Discussion Thread
Harsh, Niko. Harsh. I thought you left the club because you were babysitting. Or, maybe you did and you're just trying to troll poor Shelby.
What is the true path to victory? I say start with Flashman's stage.
Re: Anime Discussion Thread
No Shelby was the best part of the club, simply because she gave me the best chance of having a conversation that did not include the words "E.V. training."
Y'know

Re: Anime Discussion Thread
actually, I think I have to agree more with Niko on this one. I have to admit, I was a bit upset that anime club wasn't really anime oriented, that is, since DJ graduated anyway. Elliot, the most animeish thing I ever heard in anime club was either huntys commentary about a movie I've personally seen a hundred times over or your 'conversations' about eeveelutions or what pokemon jabbering I actually understood. Neki and I would sit in the corner and doodle untill I got bored and when in search of somekind of discussion that always ended in me sitting back down to watch a movie that I can literally mouth all the words.
Honestly, I'm thinking huskie hour is a better use of my time so as I can explore those ventures that anime club didn't even comecoose to. By debating with people who ACTUALLY WATCH ANIME, not just watch ghibli movies or play stratgy rpgs. It may seem harsh but I ashure you, I have no malace intent.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread
Perhaps you have a point.
DJ really was the cornerstone of our club, wasn't he? None of us really have a big enough anime collection to use.

yeah, he had the biggest anime collection out of the whole of the group, though I'm happy that I at least have a bigger manga collection.
Re: Anime Discussion Thread
that's cause I got no money to pay 11$ for a comic book I will read once.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread
1.) most manga is only 10 dollars.
2.) I read them MANY times over.
3.) I can draw because of careful study of these magical things, don't knock it untill you have some. Besides, I could read manga online, but I don't always have access to a computer when I want to read one.
It's really not any worse than any other hobby, possibly more expensive, but with a stronger fan base than most.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread
That may work for you, but I prefer to keep my collection at a higher quality than the library keeps theirs. I also don't have access to the library all year. So whatever, I like my collection, I don't NEED your approval.

Thank you
The best animation quality I have ever seen ever
However I am only a few episodes in and will deliver my final verdict in a couple days.

Let's play stump the Shelby:
To Aru Majutsu no Index <--- Excellent
Shakugan no Shana <--- Meh, only 4 episodes in...
But this is just my non-anime fanatic opinion.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread
Just watched episode one of Tengen Toppen Gurren Lagann.
... I'm still trying to get over the fact that it was just the first episode.
I have NO idea what I've gotten myself into here.
Edit:
I think I may be in trouble. I've been unable to do anything but look up fanart and listen to ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWER on youtube since watching that first episode.
HELP.

Quick Jake, go find a chemical eye shower. And while you're at it, go watch To Aru Majustu no Index (/soliciting).
In all seriousness though, I got through all 24 episodes, and I was thouroughly impressed with the style of the show. The show basically is rapid fire, 3 episode plot arcs, but every episode has some sort of twist. Plus, there's just something about Big Bads with powers like instant alchemy (whatever-I-want-to-happen-does), or "vector change" (being able to change the path of motion of ANYTHING that comes in contact with your person, including blows, bullets, convection, electrostatic energy, UV radiation, and nuclear weapons). Though, I must say, the series ends rather abruptly, because it only goes about 1/3 the way through the light novels. But here's hoping there is a second season...

I finished Gurren Lagann TT.TT
I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it is the best anime I have ever watched, and the way things are looking it will probably hold that position in my heart for a long time.
If you haven't watched it, you need to.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread
TAMNI was recommended to me by a close personal friend of mine about a month ago, haven't gotten around to it yet. I dunno if I ever will.IceBug wrote:Let's play stump the Shelby:

As for shakugan no shana, I watched it quite some time ago. I happen to believe that they should have ended the series with one season instead of dragging it out to two. Season one was pretty good but season two was pretty awful in comparison, with the exception of the last 3 episodes in season two. Please continue this game, it amuses me ever so~

Re: Anime Discussion Thread
Again, I think TAMNI, as far as the anime, ends in an awkward place, and the last mini arc left me feeling...well, meh. But, every other arc made me very happy. It has its, "Holy crap did that just happen?" moments. Particularly, the Angel Fall arc. Wow...
And as far as Shakugan, I still haven't gone any farther. I could make another 20 hours for another anime series, but all that time could be put towards things like, oh, college...
I'm gonna try to find a decent anime Shelby doesn't know about, via a combination of TV Tropes and FlashFlashRevolution (if you want to know the process, ask, it's odd).
