I start my certificate program in about two weeks so I can become a computer technician.
To be frank, I need to fix someone's computer. It's an itch I need to scratch!

Do you have to be Frank to fix computers? What about Dave, Michael, or Jim?NeuroticThunder wrote:I start my certificate program in about two weeks so I can become a computer technician.

I think that what he's saying is that he has to fix someone's computer in order to have his name changed to Frank. Must be some new government legistlation.

My Battalion Commander from ROTC just retired today. I wrote him an email wishing him well and letting him know how much of an inspiration he was to me, particularly in my final year there.

Kid said his first 'sentence' the other day. It was 'Hi Mama'
He's already standing and trying to climb out of the play area. Not bad for a 7 month old.
Tomorrow I'll be 29...again, despite rumors otherwise.

It's the Reserve Officers' Training Corps.Risky wrote:Rogues of Training Corps?McDuffies wrote:You wrote to Reinder?Laemkral wrote:My Battalion Commander from ROTC just retired today. As far as I know, it's like joining the Army before joining the Army.

ROTC, as Tim said, is Reserve Officers Training Corp. It is one of three sources for commissioning officers into the US military. The other two being OCS and the military academies. Its a program you enter into during college, and take as an additional class. Traditionally, it's a 4 year program, but can be completed in 2-3 years in some situations. It's that thing I did in college which made me wear a uniform once a week, work out twice a week, and which got me to where I am today.

Reinder (who posts here on occassion) creates ROCR, Rogues of Clwd-Rhan. which is a vaguely similar acronym to ROTC. McDuffies noted the similarity in his post by referencing Reinder, I expanded on his note by substituting "Rogues of" for "Reserve Officers". I could also have said "Rogues of Twyd Chan?", but either way, I definitely knew what it meant (hence saying Training Corps) and McDuffies probably knew what it meant, but regardless the funny is dead now.

I think that correct acronym is ROTCR, "Rogues of the Clwd-Rhan", but a letter less or more, it's all the same, eh?
Re: Livejournal-style Whining Thread 2.0
There's no "the", and also it's at rocr.net . Also I just deleted my livejournal... why be emo there when I can be emo here.McDuffies wrote:I think that correct acronym is ROTCR, "Rogues of the Clwd-Rhan", but a letter less or more, it's all the same, eh?
