Then tons of drama erupted and spoiled it for a lot of people.
Truth be told the community in its own right isn't what it used to be back in the days of Keenspace, or even just after the namechage. Generally it's a myriad of things: Real life, moved on to other things, other communities, and so on. The point is, it just seems this place doesn't seem as "fun" as it used to be, and it's all "Serious Business" now.
that and i don't know about you folks, but i haven't seen a lot of new blood that's made a positive impact. Maybe comicgen's had its peak years ago, and it's just in a downward slump, or perhaps it's webcomics in general that's hit a downward slump until the proverbial "next generation" comes along with their own stories to tell..
is the community dying? prolly not. But chances are it'll be somewhat dormant for a while, with sparks of activity from the odd wayward newbie or crusty old fart.
as for the chat? well that's kinda dormant in itself, Telly, BEC, and a few others are the only ones who are really active on it. Again, most folks got sick of the drama and went elsewhere, there was a lot of abundant friction between lots of people, and they went off elsewhere. Usually things were said, spats broke out, the dramallama made whatever sound it makes, and that was all she wrote, as they say.
