Today I got my first definite withdrawal symptoms from caffeine.

Starting at about 4pm, I started to get little aches and pains, tiredness, and a headache. Then I started feeling depressed and had all these morbid thoughts.

I suspected that it was caffeine withdrawal, because depression is normally 100% mental with me, and doesn't come with tiredness/headaches/aches.

So, I had two iced teas and an iced mocha and now I'm as right as rain.

(I've just spoken to my mother, and the same thing happens to her when she's coffee sick after a long flight.)

EDIT:
Also, according to Dr. Francis Moraes, it takes 8 grams of caffeine to kill an average adult if it's taken orally, and 3 grams to kill if it's mainlined.

I drank far too much coffee when I had a full-time job. It was mostly a result of having endless free coffee and far too little to do. There were times when I would drink 6 cups a day and then sit at my desk twitching. Fun times.

I fall into the Moderately Addicted category (week-long headaches suck).
Though it's been a few years since I've had any more than an extremely minor dose (1/4 cup of regular coffee at most), so I don't know if addiction wears off after extended detox.
