Sequential Artist Wanted – Fantasy (Pay/Published Authors)

Post by Sequential »

We are currently seeking a sequential artist for a paid submission package, and subsequent ongoing/mini-series monthly comic if project is green lighted by a publisher. Artist should have an appreciation for the fantasy genre, as well as an interest in ‘breaking into’ comics.

Project involves up-front page rate for the submission package, however we are looking for someone that is interested in collaborating to get their work published, more than interest in the freelance aspect (not that there is anything wrong with that, or that you can’t do both – it is simply where we are coming from with this project).

Essentially the pay offered for submission package is a ‘safety net’ for someone interested in collaboration, but tired of taking chances on projects that are never accepted by a publisher. We are only looking for people who would be interested in continuing on the project if it is picked up with the understanding that it would be a division of profits (back-end) situation.

Interested artists should e-mail to sequentialart@live.com with links to current sequential art samples, list of published work (if any), and page rate. Script (obviously) and other additional information is available for those that may be interested. We are proponents of contracts that make people comfortable and safe, and will work out details with interested parties in advance of work.

E-mails will be accepted until September 6th 2008.
Thank you for taking the time to consider our offer.

J.L. Collins has been published by Wizards of the Coast in Realms of the Dragons II: A Forgotten Realms Anthology, and also published in Dragon Magazine #332 - A Novel Approach. William Ward edited the Fantasy Anthology Fablewood, which was recently, spotlighted by Ursula K. Le Guin under her ongoing Some Books I’ve Liked website entries.

Post by Elixir95 »

I posted on the precious page looking for an artist, and found one, but I need two more artists to finish my universe (five titles).

The first concept is about an assassin who works for a company superhuman assassins, but begins taking her first few steps to redemption, but the company isn't going to let one of their best operatives just leave. Looking for an art style similar to Leinil Yu.

The second is about a female warrior of the Amazon, who defends it, and isn't happy with how it's being treated, and makes her way to the city (there's a lot more, just don't want to give it all away). Looking for an art style similar to Joe Madureira.

Unfortunately, I can't offer any money at the moment, but if the idea is picked up, a percentage of the money earned would go to you.

E-mail me at dbaonw@hotmail.co.uk if your interested (and if you need more information). I have so many ideas wrapped up inside my head and this is just one of them, so if you want to know about some of the others, e-mail me!

Below is a script for another idea of mine that is currently being pencilled:

PAGE ONE (THREE PANELS)

PANEL ONE taking up most of the page.

PAGE ONE, PANEL ONE

Big panel, biggest on page, takes up about 1/3 of the page. Zoom in on a big, green mountain side (something like this: http://www.carlaz.com/holiday/goingoutw ... lley_2.jpg, except with a lot more trees, and it needs to be zoomed in closer). Maybe have a bird fly by.

PAGE ONE, PANEL TWO

Smaller panel, about a quarter of the size of the previous, but over laying it, down in the bottom right-hand corner. Zoom in even closer on the mountain so we can see a little opening, and opening of a cave.

MILITARY OFFICER [OP]: GET THE DAMN POWER ONLINE BEFORE SHE WAKES UP!

SCIENTIST [OP]: We’r…. We’re trying sir. Ther-- There has been a power cut.

PAGE ONE, PANEL THREE

Takes up the remaining space at the bottom of the page (with the previous panel over lapping its top right hand corner). From a side angle, where we can only see from the stomach up, this panel concentrates on two men: a old, grey haired scientist in a white laboratory coat (something like http://www.robertamsterdam.com/Ginzburg.jpg), and a younger, darker-toned, taller military man (wearing a green military uniform with a hat) who’s standing behind him. The scientist is leaning over a control board in front of the two, while the military man is standing straight. You can also see in front of the part of a metal sphere (and remember, they’re inside the cave).

MILITARY OFFICER: IF YOU DON’T GET THE POWER BACK ONLINE, WE’RE ALL SCRWED!

SCIENTIST: I’m—I’m going a—As fast as I can.

PAGE TWO (SIX PANELS)

Three panels that are the length of the page that should be divided equally, with smaller box panels on the bottom of each panel.

PAGE TWO, PANEL ONE

Looking at the two men face on now. They’re faces are expressing fear.

PAGE TWO, PANEL TWO

The box panel on the bottom of the previous panel. All that’s visible is a metal sphere, with a small amount of purple energy leaking from the middle of it.

PAGE TWO, PANEL THREE

Panel same as panel one. The men have now turned to face the exit (the opening of the cave) and have began running.

PAGE TWO, PANEL FOUR

Exactly the same as panel two, only now a lot more purple energy is visible and the sphere is beginning to rip.

SFX: KKRRKKHHH!

PAGE TWO, PANEL FIVE

The men look back as they here the noise. The exit is drawing near.

PAGE TWO, PANEL SIX

The sphere is pouring out the purple energy and the sphere has ripped. We can see a bright purple light shining within.

PAGE THREE AND PAGE FOUR (ONE PANEL)

Splash page – Big panel filling both pages.

PAGE THREE AND PAGE FOUR, PANEL ONE

Looking at the scene from the side. Full view of the cave. The sphere that was there has now disappeared, and all that remains is a platform. The metal that composed the sphere are lying in ruins around the platform, and the control panel that the two men were standing over has been torn out of place. The two men are lying face down flat on the floor, with their hands on the backs of their heads. Floating above the metal platform is a young beautiful girl with long black hair, wearing jeans, a purple top of sorts and a white denim jacket. She’s floating because of telekinesis, so feel free to throw an outline of purple energy around her!

CAPTION BOX (PURPLE): WHERE THE HELL AM I?!

PAGE FIVE (FOUR PANELS)

Panel one takes up half the page.

PAGE FIVE, PANEL ONE

Looking at the exit from behind the girl. Can see half of the back of her body. The two men are now clambering to their feet.

PAGE FIVE, PANEL TWO

Small box panel. From behind, we can see the scientist scream as he’s hit by the purple energy.

SCIENTIST: AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

SFX: FFOOMMMM

PAGE FIVE, PANEL THREE

Small rectangular panel, although bigger than the previous. Outside the cave, and the scientist has been knocked off of the edge of the cliff, and is falling to his death.

SCIENTIST: AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

PAGE FIVE, PANEL FOUR

Panel the width of the page. The military man is crawling backwards on the floor. Still looking from behind like panel one, but a bit more of the girl’s back is visible.

PAGE SIX (ONE PANEL)

Big one page panel.

PAGE SIX, PANEL ONE

Looking from behind the man, so we’re looking directly at the girl and inside of the cage, while we are unable to view the front of the military man. The girl is now strangling the man telekinetically, while holding him over the edge of the cliff. Lots of purple energy being released from the girl, perhaps even visible around the man’s neck.

CAPTION BOX (PURPLE): I’m Katrina Davies.

CAPTION BOX (PURPLE(OVERLAPPING THE CORNER OF THE PREVIOUS SLIGHTLY): I’m a telekinetic and a telepath. And I was a member of a superhero team.

KATRINA: Where are my friends?

CAPTION BOX (PURPLE): And for some reason, we were locked up.

Colourist wanted for zombie/superhero comic.

Post by DangerFace »

Hey, everyone. I'm Ben Steeves and I make a comic called Zom-Ben. I do the writing, pencilling and inking, but don't have time to colour. I had a colourist for a while, but he got busy with school and other "real-life" things.

My comic can be seen at http://www.zombenstrikes.com

It is a superhero/horror/comedy about a comic artist who tries to become a crime fighter after being turned into a zombie by the Egyptian god Anubis.

I'm looking for a style that doesn't stray too far from the previous colourists work, but I'm willing to bend on that if the style fits. Unfortunately, right now I can't offer any payment, as the comic doesn't make any money and neither do I, but it's good experience, and I feel it's a pretty fun story to be working on. Anyone interested can contact me on this thread, via my email: zom-ben@hotmail.com or through a Private Message.

Thanks.
Ben Steeves

Desperately Seeking Colorist!!!

Post by MrEff »

I've got a new project that will be debuting on October 31st. I don't want to go into too many details on the project itself as we've worked very hard to keep it hush hush until it's time to drop.

I've been writing the story and working with an artist (who's freaking phenomenal). I thought I was going to have time enough to do the colors myself but alas between work and other comic endeavors of mine I do not.

What you will be working with: 600 dpi B&W tif scans of the original inked art.

What we're looking for: Someone with a good work ethic and a decent turnaround time. Must have a nice sens of shading and creating depth.

You won't have to worry about lettering or anything of that nature (logos, credits etc.) I'll take care of all of that on my end after the pages have been colored.

To start this is a "non-paid" position. You will be able to use your work towards a portfolio and in time when we publish the graphic novel, compensation will become available.

Please contact me (either a PM here or email me at: spoon1014@hotmail.com) with examples of your work and I will send you a "test-page" to evaluate if you are a fit.

Again we are looking to fill this position asap!!

Hello there, i'm looking for a Artist for a Superhero Comic book that could either be Silver or Golden age. I have several character ideas and it could be numerous things! A example is about Power Pull and her Partner Ener-Joe in a classic super hero romp, Or Sharpshooter Naga a expeiriment from a lab who got away and now uses her enhanced mind to fight crime with technology.

A exert of the comic would be 'And so Ener-Joe bursts in the door hurling energy upon the surprised villains. Too late the thugs turn one being nailed slamming into a crate.' Or, 'Sharpshooter Naga stands over a city looking it over in quiet contemplation, then with a smirk dives down, in a flash of light vanishing, teleporting to her next job.'

Contacting me could be a private Message in the forum, OR! E-Mailing me at HintoRLZ@Yahoo.com . Thanks.

For the Artist i'll provide them with detailed descriptions of the characters, several past visual references, and for the story line i'll go back and forth with them to see what we could fit in a single comic then give them a story or a script and see how they interpet it.

For Art style Realistic, Manga/Anime, but centrally 'American Super hero' style works too. THanks so much folks!

Evolution Comics is an up and coming publisher. We're currently looking for sequential artists, inkers colorists, and as well as digital letterers for several projects. We're looking for art teams to work on Arcanos, G.U.A.R.D, Outcasts, and Vector. I would like to state in advance that these are not upfront paying gig. We only offer backend payment term, co ownership of titles and exposure. So if you are looking for any immediate paying gig, or if you are not seriously taking this ad, please do not respond!

Vector
Elijah Vector is an agent for a top secret intelligence division with an assignment to seek and apprehend a criminal mastermind known only as DESTROYER. He finds the terrorist easily, but little does he know that behind the assignment lays a mysterious motive that eventually shakes the foundations of his own sanity. Vector is forced to wade through the limbo between reality and illusion in an attempt to save the world from imminent collapse.

Arcanos
As the Spanish explorer, Sebastian Cortez, stumbles into the Garden of Eden, he is immediately lost in the heavenly embrace of this divine cradle of humanity. Little does he know that stirring beneath the holy peace is a war that has been declared eons ago -- a war that would shake the fabric of reality itself. Cortez eventually finds himself locked in the limbo of Armageddon as he endeavors to spare the entire human race from certain annihilation.

G.U.A.R.D
As humanity was encased into an everlasting struggle with the progeny of evil minds, a pact was made by a covert band of vigilantes known as GUARD. But as more diabolocial schemes begin to turn into nightmarish reality, the fate of the entire world was hanging in the balance, and it was only a matter of time before GUARD lived to the truthness of its spirit, defied the odds and brought an end to the injustices once and for all.

[EDIT] My website was released February 1st and more stories have been added - with more on the way. [/EDIT]

This is a personal project. It's an anthology of stories with a similar theme. The anthology will lead into my main character Devin Black, a female serial killer.

I'm in the process of creating a releasing my literary website http://www.deadgirl.me for in order to express more of my stories without restrictions.

Summary of my comic idea.
This is a character study of a female serial killer, Devin Black, and her slow evolution into an experienced killer. Even thought this story follows the character in third-person narrative, it essentially takes her point-of-view. Similar to Bret Easton Ellis’ novel “American Psycho”, but not graphically explicit. Devin’s character sexually “consumes” her victims, so the comic will contain full nudity, explicit sexual themes, and overall a very dark, gritty and crude tone.

Writing samples.
Currently, my website is unreleased and you can view it at http://wip.deadgirl.me. It contains two “stand-alone” stories that don’t contain Devin Black, but have similar tones that will be found in her storyline. “Driftwood” and “Taser Teaser”. Devin Black’s introduction will be found in the story I’m currently writing, “Chinese Take-Out”. I’ve written two chapters so far, and it should be enough to give an idea of where I’m heading with her character.

Contact information.
Email: jessi@deadgirl.me
Skype: playdeadgirl

Expectation of the artist.
This is a character driven storyline when it comes to Devin Black’s arc, the stand-alone stories as well. I’m willing to let the artist interpret the environment any way they want. I’m willing to go as far as Devin being an elf, it makes not difference to me as long as the content of the characters is not tampered with. Like I said, this is a character study and I leave the art interpretation to those who know it best. As long as it’s interesting and eye catching.

Preferred drawing style.
No real preference. Depends on which style depicts the concept the best. Not into abstract, just straight-up good work. Black and white is fine with me, unless you prefer color. That’s your call.

Re: Artist/Writer Classified Ads

Post by TheLastBard »

Hi all... I've read an obscene amount over the years, thousands of novels (fiction, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, non-fiction, etc) and tens of thousands of comics (Malibu to Marvel, Dreamwave to DC, IDW to Image, etc). Does that mean automatically that I'm a good writer, of course not, but I've been filling post-its, emails, notebooks, word files, pen drives, floppy drives, spare napkins, etc with ideas for years and I decided a few months ago its nigh time to dig in my heels, get some scripts written, and get my creations out in the world.
I have a few projects that are ready to start scripting, as in I have characters, plotlines, etc, but just need to translate to script. Any artists interested in working with me on any of them? The goal is to first get a submission package together to submit to the bigger indies and see where it goes from there. If we're gung-ho and want to go ahead and push forward while we wait for responses or get more ready in case we decide to go with a place that will only agree when they see the finished product (between an issue and a story arc) or whatever. Keeping that in mind, there is no money in this until (I'm too optimistic to say unless) the book is published, a company agrees to pay per page rates, etc. If you're concerned about creative rights and such, I would want to split the "creator" profits 50/50 with the artist (that would be any money that is provided outside of per-page rates for the book) since I know it takes a heck of a lot longer to pencil a page versus script a page. As far as the overall rights to the property, that would depend on the artist's input to the overall product. If I write the story-line, characters, scripts, etc, and the artist is basically a "gun for hire" then I would want to retain 100% of the rights to the property. Input equals ownership, basically... Questioning plot decisions, pushing your beliefs on things, etc can help to push some of the creative rights your way. Of course I'm getting ahead of myself, but hey, I'm determined to make something happen and confident of my abilities, so why the heck not?!?!?!
Below are a few of the ideas I'm really ready to get going on. You will notice these are 30k ft level descriptions. Because I'm one of those odd creative types, I don't share ANYTHING without something invested from the artist (nothing vested, nothing gained). If you are interested in learning more, you will have to contact me via email and we can discuss further. If I can tell you're able and serious, I would discuss some of the projects a bit more.

PROJECTS:
1. Cime/Noir/Detective story with a hint of something beyond the ordinary. This is the project I have an artist already for and I've just started writing the script for the 5th issue. No, I'm not looking for an artist on this one; I just wanted to give people an idea of what I'm doing.
2. Horror Mini-Series. This one is inspired by the plethora of stupid horror movies that have been permeating the big screen for the last ten years or so mixed with my own brand of character development. To give you an idea of how odd my inspirations are the storyline came to me as a cross between a dream from a handful of weeks ago and a picture I took months ago.
3. Technology / Paranormal / Mysticism Series. Here's another one with a twist... I had this idea months ago of an ongoing war between good and evil in modern times. Straightforward enough, right? Well, a couple of weekends ago I found a notebook I had totally forgotten about brimming with information on a single creation from about 15 years ago. The end result is something I'm very jazzed about.
4. Horror / Suspense / Mystery / Supernatural ongoing. I had this idea a couple of years ago involving a character and the search for answers to some questions about his history. Basically he's searching for someone while being searched for himself.
5. Fantasy ongoing. A different take on destiny based on a novel I've been working on (set it down when the comic bug set in with a vengeance). A handful of characters, races, creatures, gods, magic, and mayhem.
6. Others... always! Once I find my notebooks with my source material, I'll be at it with some of those...

Ok, I've written a novel on this posting, so let me wrap it up... I'm looking for different styles of art, potentially, for each of the above ideas. If I end up finding more than one artist, great, I can handle that because it's almost like I just need to hit the print button on my brain to get some of the scripts out. Depending on what I'm working on I write anywhere from 6-10 pages per day and that's pretty wordy, too (if this posting didn't give you an impression, I'm wordy and I like it).

Artists, you don't have to be published, but you have to be confident in your work and, well, you've got to be good at what you do... I'm not saying you've got to be a specific style, but I've got to "feel" how it's going to work or, frankly, it won't. I'm not shooting for the minor leagues here (as in indies I have never seen something published by them in a comic book store), I'm striving for something bigger and with the right team, it will happen.

Thanks for reading my opus and I look forward to hearing from some pencil maniacs out there!

Oh hai.

I'm an artist trying to crack my way into the world of webcomics. Unfortunately, I'm not a very good story teller, so I'm looking for a writer to team up with long-term. Other webcomic forums have told me that I should start my search over here.

I'd prefer to work on a humor comic, because I have a cartoony style that may not fit very well into a more serious dramatic universe. However, I'm willing to give any genre a chance, if the writer feels my style can be made to fit their story.

Here's a sample of my art:
Image

For more, you can see my previous webcomic attempt, which I'm no longer updating: http://www.tganimation.net

To contact me, please send me an e-mail at david@tganimation.net

It takes me a few hours to draw four panels, and I prefer to draw using Adobe Flash and a tablet. I've been considering changing to either Photoshop or Illustrator.

Looking for an Artist!

Once again I've got an idea for a comic that I just don't seem to have the time to draw.

The Pending title is "Nightmare High".

Essentially the plot boils down to this new Janitor at a seemingly harmless High school comes in contact with an experiment being conducted by the young and brilliant (and quite tall and chesty) Science teacher. After said experiment the Janitor now finds he has the "sight" to see what's really going on at the high school. (and how the attending students are really monsters)

It's a light hearted campy story of a more adult nature (not nudity but adult language and situations) Vampires, werewolves, other dimensions and mad scientists are just the start of what I've got planned. (Pepper it with some slapstick and boob jokes and now we're going somewhere!)

Examples of some of the character designs and further descriptions can be seen here:

"Joe Smith" (name change pending) the loveable Janitor and hero of the story

"Penelope Deschain" Genius Science Teacher (@17 years old) who accidentally involves Joe in one of her experiments and thus helps him combat evil

"Gunk" (Gonk?) This guy gets pulled through an inter dimensional doorway by "Joe" only to have the doorway close on one of his arms. While residing in the boiler room of the high school (awaiting the day he can go back to his own reality) he fashions a new arm out of spare parts

These are pretty much rough sketches and a rough outline. I'm looking to do this in a pseudo anime style with full page layouts (someday I'd like to publish the work)

If this interests anyone please feel free to contact me here or at my e-mail spoon1014@hotmail.com

Please include any art samples you might have to help me make a decision.

Monetary compensation might also be worked out if you're work is super top notch.

Looking for Artist

Post by Mavrickindigo »

I am looking for an artist for my webcomic idea, but instead of working with one artist at a time, I'm looking to check out multiple artists and to pick out the one that has the best work ethic/style. My previous artist seemed really good, but she couldn't even be curteous enough to tell me that she couldn't make it to our planning sessions. This current artist search is going to end on April 16th 2009
* Summary of your comic idea.
Life in Mavrigo is the story of a group of people living in a ficitional American City, that is "protected" by a super hero named Censorman, whose powers are based off of television censorship (throwing star censor strips, sonic blasts of "bleeps" etc). The story follows various characters as they go through their lives after a mad scientist steals an ancient artifact and awakens a strange robot. There is Censorman, the Robot, a teenaged boy who is looking for fame who discovers the roobt, the boy's posse, the boy's cousin (a girl come from a rural town to go to college) and womanizing pretty-boy business tycoon among many other characters and settings within and around the city itself.
* A link to your writing sample
All info can be found here
* Contact information.
you can contact me at my deviantart (above) or through IM: AOL: cubeking7, MSN: mavrickindigo@msn.com (do not email me there) Yahoo: cubeking7
* Expectation of the artist.
While the script seems rather rigid, I am open to your own interpretation of panels and the like, just make sure to let me know before hand. I will provide you with a script and separate character descriptions. We should have characters designed before their appearance in the comic, and I'll work ahead so that I'll give you ample time in designing characters based off of my descriptions. Also I would also encourage you to think of some ideas for the story as well.
* Preferred drawing style.
The story is kinda light, but I don't think I want cartoony cartoony, nor do I want super realism. Some characters are more serious than others and some are more goofy than others, and I want the style to reflect that if possible

Story- About 5000 years ago a great battle roared across the night sky, The Devil was torn in two and both his parts were at war with one another, These parts known as Comedy and Tragedy quaked the earth until they were destroyed by an organization known as the S.H.A. Now strange beasts roam the world of humans, The S.H.A. battle them but to no end. Now in this age it seems the power of the devil has gone from two clowns to a mass amount of "demons". A boy is found with the ability to kill these beasts and he is recruited by S.H.A. and begins the ultimate battle between Evil...and Itself. Note This story uses No form of "light" only darkness, meaning fight fire with fire, dark on dark. The script contains Adult Language, Riligious Mockery, and Bizare Humor.

Hi, scriptwriter/cartoonist seeks artist for the creation of something different.

Occult Anonymous: The story of a group of friends linked to one another via unnatural abilities. Stars Artie, a repressed normal joe, D, a demon who frequently posesses him, Craig, a werewolf who assumes everone fears him because he's black, Lexi, a witch worried about her 401k, and Johnny, a hobo-seer who refuses to use his powers for personal gain. It's a comedy that takes place in Vancouver and covers everything from current politics to music, to just weird shit these people do in their spare time. More details can be provided with inquiry.

I've got a sweet script lined up covering several sotry arcs and would love to make this big. Looking for an artist with cartoony flair, alterations can be made to the script as need be.

Mail me @ Scotty-Dunn@hotmail.com and I'll get back to you ASAP. I have the site already lined up @ http://occultanonymous.comicgenesis.com and have put up a few pieces of my own art (though I'm not much of an artist I do confess)

Inexperience comic book writer looking for artists

Post by benmarco »

Hi,
I'm (if you couldn't already figure it out by the subject) an inexperienced comic book writer looking for artists to collaborate with on comic books. I'm open for any type of comic, whether just for fun, a web comic, self-publishing or even a pitch to a publisher. I'm also open to any genre of comic. I have no preconceived ideas so we'd both be starting from zero.
I love comics. I've always wanted to write/draw them, so I figure, it's time to start. I'm looking for artists who are-- well first, interested in making comics, but also want to have fun and be creative and try new things with the medium.
Obviously, (well maybe not obviously, but if I thought it was really that obvious I wouldn't feel I need to write...) no experience is required. I have none to very little myself. I've written a few comics and non-comic works myself but nothing that's been fully-realized (i.e. drawn) as a comic. No level of experience is too much or too little just a certain level of commitment.
Interested...? Drop me a line, we'll get started. benmarco@gmail.com

Looking for an Artist to collaborate on a graphic novel based on a novel, "Life Is Like a Hearse"
It is an Urban Fantasy/Humor.

In Greek mythology, the Moirae were the most feared of the gods.  They had dominion over the fate of every man, woman, god, and goddess.  Clotho spun the thread of life, Lachesis measured it, and Atropos cut it with her golden shears.

When a quilting group unknowingly quilts with the thread of life and the golden shears, it causes mass death and invokes the wrath of the Moirae.  With most of the city's police otherwise occupied with investigations arising from the rising death toll, it is up to Dawn to unravel the mystery of the Fates and rescue her mother when she is kidnapped by the Moirae.

I am looking for a collaborating artist, meaning that pay would be split upon publication (40/60 or so - open to negotiation) but as this is going to be a time-consuming project, I may consider offering some pay if possible.

I don't have scripts, as this is a based-on-a-novel project and I would be happy for an artist to take creative liberties with the layout of the comic, however I am willing to write out some scripts if that is preferred.

If interested, email me at brycekraffle@gmail.com with "Graphic Novel" in the subject line.
Please send a link with some samples of your work and I can send some sample chapters.

I am particularly interested in a roughly drawn, scratchy-looking style with plenty of emphasis on the foreground and little on the background. Example: Ben Templesmith's Wormwood (http://www.templesmith.com/faze3/)
Also, I am able to do the lettering myself so would only require the art.
