yeah, that was an infuriating waste of time. other than the bit about The South Central LA Community Garden, I knew everything in there, and instead of sitting back and writing notes I found myself trying not to scream at the screen.

but seeing Micheal Ruppert quote from Dune at the end made me giggle.

I just watched Misery again.

On an unrelated note, I'm going to buy a sledge hammer.

I found that they were running in circles a bit. I always expected Futurama to advance with it's plots, but this film ended right where it began. Problem with films is that they play like lengty episodes to me... and when one episode is just a sideplot, that's no big deal, but when you have to wait a year or two for the new episode, I wonder whether it's worth the wait.

I didn't really like Beast with a Billion Backs. It started off strong, but I didn't like where it ended. Plus the writers are in danger of catching Family Guy Syndrome.

Ugh, do not want Futurama getting Family Guy Syndrome. That'd be very bad...especially given how most of the in-jokes from Futurama are slightly geek oriented and what not versus pop culture. I mean, the Vice Presidential Action Rangers?? How cool was that!

On other note, saw "Swing Vote" yesterday and it was pretty good. Nice message, made me think a bit, and right at the end it really gets to you. Plus it did a damn good job of not taking any party lines and mocks the Republican and Democrat side of things pretty well. Shows that really...they're just two sides of the same coin.

I don't want Futurama to get the Simpsons syndrome either.

Caught "The Descent" on German television recently. It's the first horror movie that had me creeped out in a long long time. =D

There was this completely random scene in which the robot devil will do something for Bender if he gives him his first born son. So Bender runs home to his house where his son is playing in the yard and the young robot with braces says, "Daddy, you came back!" Then Bender runs back to robot hell and throws the kid through the robot devil's office and into a pit of lava, which makes a huge explosion. Not such a big deal, but somewhat random so they need to be careful with that.

occasional random is good, the thing is its relevent to the actual story, wheras if it was a family guy bit it'd be more like "thats as brutal as when bender killed his first born son" *cutaway* *back to story with no consequence*

True, but they need to be careful, as the son was made up just for that gag. I see the Simpsons starting to do Family Guy-like things and I don't want to see it with Futurama.

Futurama is still my second favorite show. King of the Hill is still my favorite.

thought i'd hate to see futurama doing it, those random asides are my favorite part of family guy.

in the u.s. they cut off the movie with her in the car seeing the "ghost" of her "friend" but it ended with her outside the cave, a "happy" ending. at least happier. cause they thought the other ending was too dark for american audiences.

If it makes you feel better, I'm sure they cut the few seconds where Juno breaks one of the critters' necks for German television.

a few seconds of violence vs a completely different ending/tone for the movie... pff.

Simpsons was doing those asides back in, like, the 4th season, they just stopped doing them after a while. Family guy wallows in them like a big hippo in a pool of mud

Kinda like that time when I was on the forum, and my computer crashed because a giant doombee flew into my window and carried me off to the doom hive for five minutes before I reappeared at my desk and got some coffee and started to post again with no consequence?

But yeah, I don't mind a random aside every now and then if it's done well. The humor just seemed a little off to me in the latest Futurama movie. Maybe it just works a little better in a shorter format.
