Urf?
I watched The Sandlot and A League of Their Own the other day while inking. I forgot how much I love those movies.

That is the funniest thing because it doesn't look like sheep at all. But if I look at it with the corner of an eye, I see it every time, with the white eye forming sheep's head and that...TheSuburbanLetdown wrote:I don't see sheep.

Ah yes, that makes sense. I see weird things out of the corner of my eye sometimes.
That reminds me, I have a present for you.
I know. It's the damndest thing. It'll probably trail off a bit at some point, but may as well ride the walrus while it's here.Yeahduff wrote:You've got a weird baseball thing these days.

I waited for Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk to come to the second-run theatre, because it's cheaper. I saw them both in a double feature the other day. I have to say, Iron Man was entertaining, but on the whole, I thought Hulk was better. Liv Tyler still can't act, though, can she?

With the rising price of gas you'd think you could get them cheaper. Though I hear you can get a good deal on a walrus in Indiana.

Walrus is like $10.00 a pound these days.
I don't actually know if I can today. I may have a wedding-related obligation to fulfill tonight. If only people would just call me back.

I need to find my baseball glove again so we can have 3. I haven't seen it in like 7 years though. I may have given it away for all I know.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I didn't mention it earlier, but Beth and I ended up going to see Journey to the Center of the Earth because we found a place showing it in 3D.
First of all, without the 3D, it'd have been a kind of ok movie. The 3D really did some good to it. But to be fair, I only go to movies in theaters if there will be special effects. So I am biased. Good special effects. Worth the price. Not like, for example, the Spy Kids 3D movie, which sucked eggs any way you stacked 'em.
There were some physical impossibilities that grated on my nerves. Not the whole "world at the center of the earth" thing - that's the whole premise of the movie, I can ignore that it's not real. But some of the other stuff... well, if you go you'll see it. I won't spoil. Some of the "stunts" (not stunts of course, but special effects" simply wouldn't happen that way. It wouldn't have cost them anything to make the stunts conform to the laws of physics. But, they didn't.
There was a lot of that, really. Stuff that they could have made reflect reality without detracting from the movie, and without costing them extra. But that they didn't. That is my biggest gripe of the movie I think.
The plot... supported the concept. It was a reworking of Journey to the Center of the Earth. Characters were not very well developed. Things existed because they had to exist to support the story, not because they necessarily made sense.
Overall, I'd say 2.5 stars out of 5. It'd be 1.5 stars, but the 3D really was pretty darn good. And as I said, I'm a sucker for good special effects.
If you really get a kick out of special effects, and you have a good theater with the 3D, it's worth it to see it on the big screen. If you do not watch movies for their special effects... don't watch this one. Don't even bother renting.

I saw Ace Venture yesterday for the first time since I was 8. "I'll watch it with the little bro, he loves animals!"
Oh how much I had forgotten
Explaining a "tuck" to my family was..... wow.

That's the only reason I bothered looking in on The Strangers for film scratches.Yeahduff wrote:Still ain't bad to look at, though.

finally saw the Dark Knight, i was very impressed with the storytelling and the acting, very glad I finally got to see it, very well done. Heath might actually deserve that oscar.

its a shame that'll be like six years (according to Del Torro) before we see what happens next.MixedMyth wrote:Finally saw Hellboy II. It was fantabulagasmic!

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Saw Hellboy II the other day. Well, most of it, anyway . . . about ten minutes from the end, the new projectionist I've been training had an emergency so I had to run upstairs. But oh, well, I'd already seen the ending before that anyway. Now, I'll just go ahead and say that I wasn't quite as impressed as most folks seem to have been about the first movie, but I still think it was a good, solid flick and I'm glad I bought the DVD. My feelings about HII are about the same . . . I don't feel it was really blow your mind out super tubular awesome, but it was still a dang good movie and I shall be buying the DVD for it as well when it comes out.
Saw The Dark Knight last night. Had to go to the rival theater here in town, but ah, well. We must all make sacrifices. Now, I'll just go ahead and say that I wasn't quite as impressed as most folks seem to have been about Batman Begins . . . in fact, I was somewhat unimpressed by it. If the DVD had cost more than ten bucks, I probably would have felt very ripped off. Now, Dark Knight started off with one of the problems I had with Begins by being somewhat disjointed at the beginning, but once things really started picking up steam, it did get progressively better and I'm glad I went to go see it. While I'm sadly not going to be joining the chorus saying that Heath was teh bets Jokar evar, I will say that he was still pretty damn good and it was a delight to see him in the part. It was definitely an excellent send off for him, and it is a shame that he won't be coming back for any of the sequels. Eckhart, of course, did his usual superb job, and the visual effects they did on him in the latter half of the movie . . . damn. That was some beautiful work. I still feel there were some problems here and there, but overall it was well worth the time.
Saw The X-Files: I Want To Believe today. It was okay. I dunno if I'd recommend paying to see it on the big screen, especially the way ticket prices have decided to soar, but it'll definitely be worth a rent (or a buy, if you're an X-Files fan) when it comes out on video.
Also saw most of Step Brothers, split up over the last few days. I thought it was pretty funny, myself, and while I know a lot of people moan about movies like this, I genuinely enjoy seeing Ferrel and Reily doing stuff with the type of humor that they themselves obviously enjoy.
