Hurah!... I guess.
Just YouTubed those Fanta ads to see what you're all (you all being Kwill and McDuffies) talking about. I can see both your points, but additionally, I found the fact that mustache-dad gives up and lets his daughter boff the black guy as soon as he gets some day-glo orange bubble nookie disturbing disturbing on several levels. First, there's the basic bubble-nookie concept that's kinda disturbing. Then there's the way stache-dad's being upset with his daughter having sex unless he's having it too in the next room seems like some kind of really unhealthy and creepy sexualization of his daughter.
Now that's a new interpretation that I haven't considered. No fear of someone blaming me for thinking too deep into it now. :)
Meh. Can't argue about taste. I feel the whole stereotype thing is offset by the rather inhuman look of the characters. I also interpreted the Angry dad as bitching about the kids being loud in his house as opposed to being in a band.
There is that one about the band, but then there is the one with two kids where issue is not being loud but making out (as you can see when she jumps out of his lap whenever dad enters). But they are just two out of a whole string of commercials with common theme of youngsters being "oppressed" by the old ones. The first one that came has a kid being harrased by a policeman for simply beatboxing in the street, and he beats the policemen by simply being obnoxious and "subverting" all his rules. In later commercials that have youngsters trapped in a giant press that makes them all look alike, robot-like. Then a kid breaks the press down using fanta and all kids return to normal state. This one is not about some silly domestic issue or "rebel without a cause" attitude, it is openly identifying their product with rebelion against uniformity, commercialism, conservative values and whatnot.

You do have to have in mind that I have a strong disdain for advertising, specially the agressive one. Though I do appreciate a commercial that I think is tasteful and smart, like I said, I like a lot of Coca Cola ads.
I read this post without looking at the avatar and thought, "Wow, what fucking loser." What a shocker it was you, you fucking loser. Go answer your phone, Kristen Bell is calling. She's doing research on a role about how one is supposed to interact with a fucking loser, you jumped-streak of pompous piss.
Golly, someone left the gate open wide!

Mmm, conformity. I need Fanta to be a nonconformist because no one here drinks it.

Yeah dude.

I actually made a mistake in that statement. It's supposed to be, "jumped-up streak of pompous piss."

Not if you know where to look.
(I said it was easy to find, not easy to get to. But if you pay for the shipping, I'll mail you some. It might be a little frothy by the time it gets there 'though.)

A&W Root Beer for life!

Well, except when I'm drinking tea.

The only thing I like about Fanta is that they make a diet grape soda. And it's insanely hard to find diet grape soda. It's not very good. But it's diet. And grape.

We use high fructose corn syrup, so our soda tastes better when it's made in other countries. I always wondered by why the Coke in Thailand tasted better. Well, it's bottles in glass too which helps.

Oh *HO* so I'm not the only one who thinks cans, glass bottles and plastic bottles taste different!
And here I was thinking I had some sort of OCD <_<
>_>

OH and I thought of something about Fanta again. Anyone try the ALL NEW UBARIMPROV-D FANTA *STILL*?
Dont
I tried it because it was cheap, you know, cheaper than orange juice, but it was groooooooss. When you leave a drink out too long, it still retains a sort of *memory* of being fizzy. So, you know, Coke tastes like Coke, its just better when its not still. But this Fanta still stuff never got carbonated at all, so its just this icky too-thick drink that makes you think "If they'd just have juiced the oranges a few days earlier, this would a been *fine*"

I didnt like it, can you tell?

Wasnt even like orange squash, you know, the instant powdered kind, it was just blech.

But I still love regular Fanta XD
