This is a splendid idea! With all the comics though, this will take A LOT of work to organize. Also, make sure "the academy" uses their discretion in making decisions - there are plenty of ballot-stuffers. And of course, there's a popularity thing too. If there's a great comic nobody's read, should it not have awards up for grabs? On the other hand, if there's a mediocre comic that happens to be popular for sell-out features ::coughs::, it's gonna get all the votes. Not to be biased myself, of course...

Meredith, since I have zip to do with the commitee outside Scott I don't know if they've accepted the offer.
But Haven Design, a consulting group I'm a programmer for has taken up the design of the page. We're making it so it will be very hard to cheat and everyone gets their vote counted fairly.
I won't go into too much depth since I don't know how muck cloak and dagger they want to play to keep things exciting.
So as I know more, I'll pass it along. Till then

------------------

I think you should give out all of the technical awards at a crappy little ceremony the night before. No one cares about those anyway.
Then you can give Tom Hanks the award for the best comic strip.
------------------

Jeepers... this mother is getting to be a long post! I just wanted to say that it all sounds good, and make sure to post something far in advance (like the post about the Keen Con) so people can start voting.
I can't think of any more awards to add, but I do think that we should have as many as possible without making it overwhelming; that way, all of us newbies can have a shot at an award. If we only have 10 awards and who knows how many keenspace comics, then there only people that are going to get awards are the veterans, and we all know that they don't need yet another award.
- bonk http://rationale.keenspace.com

This is kind of a brilliant concept. Just wanted to mention that.
