The Official St. Louis Comic Cookout 2008 (Cookout V) Thread
Welcome to the Fifth Annual St. Louis Comic Cookout!
The Official Website:
http://cookout.comicgenesis.com
Last Updated: 01-19-2008
17 people registered - 8 at 100%, 9 at 75%!
The cookout is being held at the same place - the St. Louis Airport Best Western. There's still a free bus to and from the airport, the pool will be open, the doors have been fixed, we have two huge rooms and our own thermostat this year, the food is from the same vendor (and was delicious last year, remember), and there is even a game room/restaurant at the hotel now!
Some basics:
The Date: June 7th, 2008 (Saturday). Rooms are reservable at the $75 rate from Thursday (the 5th) thru Sunday (the 8th).
The Cost: $35/person. This covers the cookout food and beverages the day of the cookout, plus whatever leftovers we have. It also covers lots of other things you don't expect - last year we basically broke even. The cookout is not a profit-garnering event.
There is a cool trinket for showing this year. Two years ago you could get a shirt designed by Faub, last year it was a button designed by Turnsky. This year it's ... well, it's something cool, designed by someone you all know!
I would like to thank Fading Aura for doing the website. She truely did an awesome job and will be continuing to make periodic improvements to it.
I would also like to thank Vorticus for agreeing again to do the Trip fund. This year our first hopeful is McDuffies. Yes, the panty-stealing cat. That McDuffies. So Donate!

OH GOD IT BEGINS AGAIN
Yay!
Just to point out, though, that this year Maria and Michelle are not the first on the list. (under the incentives question). Dare I ask what special treat is in store for us if McDuffies shows?

Damn, man, the new website is awesome as hell.
I totally intend to make it there, of course, tho' I'm putting myself at 75% because there's a lot of variables involved right at the moment. Hopefully I won't get torn on taxes this year like I have the past few years, and in fact I should come out a good bit ahead . . .
Anywho, WOOOOOO COOKOUT BEEYOTCHES

I don't think you'll need a visa, but you'll certainly need a passport.
(unless you're referring to the same thing, in which case, yeah, go do it)

I better continue work on the hardware I'm bringing so folks can get on the unoffical IRC channel and rave how good of a time we're having.
OH! If you're a PHP coder with some MySQL experience, and want to do a small bit of coding during the cookout, let me know. Idea #91278309 popped into my head in which we could get 99% of the old CGI scripts (signup, anchient Siteadmin) ported if I can get help there.

Okay, here's the deal. I'm bringing two laptops, both Dells, as well as my own. They will be labeled.
One is terry, powered by Linux and having a small webcam on it so you can IRC.
The other is viktor, powered by WinXP and will also have a webcam on it for streaming video. The video will be hosted by Stickam that I set up a few weeks ago, and did a test today over land-line. A Stickam player will be put on a special page on the cookout site (as soon as I get a hold of Fading Aura again).
Of course, I'll have redwolf for a RedWolf Cam -- pointed away from me as folks will scream on the IRC channel "MOVE THE CAMERA! THERE'S AN UGLY ADMIN IN THE SHOT!"
Any screams of agony, or shall I bring in a Canon LiDE 70 scanner for some lucky artist to take home?

Well, I've put myself down at 75% for now, just in case.
Besides, proof of how much I love the lot of ya - I'm willing to miss the last weekend of Faire to go to the cookout, even though the last weekened is always the best!

On some worlds, what with gnomes and elves and trolls and all, racism is not a problem. White and Black live together in harmony and gang up on green.
