This might be like the issue "Uncaringmachine" is getting. Something about the browser is not sending the browser string. But in my case perhaps it's the referrer string not being sent?

You'll get a blank referrer whenever you go directly to a site, in this case directly to the siteadmin. Have you logged out at all?Dragonaur wrote:Still can't log in. The error window is getting more interesting...

Well It was either write it from scratch again or remove the session management with a scalpel. I chose the latter. The only alternative was to go back to HTTP Authentication, in which case the only way I would I would not require everyone to generate new passwords was to have the passwords generated on the fly upon logging into the forums. That guy wrote: Hrm. This is still a transitory period, correct? That is to say, as much work as ALL of the admins are putting in (And Kisai, you get extra credit for other aspects of life sucking simultaneously), comments like "It's on your end" are a little disheartening at this point. While there are countless mistakes on our end like Case-Sensitive usernames and incorrect passwords, most of the people here were able to get on without a hitch on Butch and only with great difficulty now. The login process, for example, is functioning, thanks to the efforts on your part XD (hurray!) But you must admit, it's not user-friendly any more
If you have logged into the forums, at all, the password is set.
- My guess is that if you have never logged out and back into the forums during the entire time, it never generated a password.
OR
- You have never logged out of the siteadmin as per instructions. Only Opera seems to not actually logout, but it will pop up the message.
- You are running something that is interfering with the headers being sent, now the only way this can happen is if your ISP is intercepting data before it is sent to you, So far nobody has shown a proxy being enabled, so I don't think that's it.
It's not any more harder than it was before, and still nowhere near as hard as the first siteadmin I wrote in perl.
But the fact stands that I don't have time to rewrite it, or anything else. I mean geez I still need to move some boxes from the old place before the end of the month, and I have like a cold or flu or something, and it's raining. Cosmic forces keep telling pulling me down yo.
Anyway "It has to be on your side", is the classic reason because everyone else it works for. There's nothing constant other than some can login and some that can't. If it's on this side, it can only be a wrong password as far as I can see. Which is why I say, hit logout first.
I've cleared cookies, tried different browser session and tried that logout URL trick too. So unless it's stuck on some long lost session I think I've tried every combo.Kisai wrote:You'll get a blank referrer whenever you go directly to a site, in this case directly to the siteadmin. Just to make sure, are you using the correct case in your username/password when you log into the forums? The forums will let you log in if you don't get the case right (say, I log in as "rianeva") but siteadmin will give you an error like this:
For me, at least, if I make sure I get the cases right, I have no problem logging into siteadmin.Your browser did not return the expected response Rianeva

Dragonaur, if you want to know if the problem is with your account or with your computer, try loging in from another computer (preferably with everything different, including ISP). If you can't log in from any other computer (not public ones), then it's probably your account.
Here's something I just noticed. I really doubt this, but it's worth a try.
When I copy+paste your name, it came up as Dragonaur__ (with two spaces on the end). I don't know if that's because of my OS, my browser, or the way the forum works. But there is a slight chance that at some stage some spaces were added to your name. Try loging in with two spaces on the end.
I say that I'm pretty sure that it won't work because if that's the case, you should get a 'user not found' message.

Everyone's name seems to have that if you copy and paste it from the forums.Dr Neo Lao wrote:Dragonaur, if you want to know if the problem is with your account or with your computer, try loging in from another computer (preferably with everything different, including ISP). Tried all combo's already! ^_^Rianeva wrote:Just to make sure, are you using the correct case in your username/password when you log into the forums? The forums will let you log in if you don't get the case right (say, I log in as "rianeva") but siteadmin will give you an error like this:

That's an excellent idea. I've been planning to give that a try. Tho' firewalls and etc shouldn't affect Digest Authentication, it'll help remove any question about my setup.Dr Neo Lao wrote:Dragonaur, if you want to know if the problem is with your account or with your computer, try loging in from another computer (preferably with everything different, including ISP). Even though I'm never logged in when I start up my browser, I can only get into site admin if I log in and log out of the forum first.
Also, I can't view all my stat details for this month. It posts half of them, and then I get this:

Is this an error on my end, and if so, how can I fix it?XML error: EntityRef: expecting ';' at line 1353
Man this thread has become long and tiresome, I can not read it all to get my answers, but I think I have made a breakthrough that might help the Admins figure out what is going on.
Again today I was trying to log in and the same error page started coming up, so I logged out of the forums and back in to see if I was writing the password right, which seeing as I am here I obviously was, when I went back to the main page and clicked log in, I received a surprise when I realised the password box has not come out I was logged in already.
I have no clue what happened but it seems if you log out of the forums and log back in, then go to the log in page you can bypass the password box..... strange, but I am happy that I can update again.

Hi, I have an FTP problem (hurray). Having had a few other comicgen comics, I have used FTP before with much happiness. However, currently whenever I try to upload something, I get a permission denied error.
The Facts:
URL: guitarraven.comicgenesis.com
FTP Client: FireFTP
Browser: whatever the latest version of Firefox is.
SiteAdmin: no problems logging in.
Where I'm trying to put the files: my workspace directory.
I'm not having any trouble logging in or VIEWING my files via FTP, just changing anything about them :P. Here's what FireFTP's spitting back at me.
227 Entering Passive Mode (66,220,2,20,166,6)
STOR indextemplate.html
553 Rename/move failure: Permission denied : workspace/indextemplate.html
TYPE A
200 TYPE is now ASCII
PASV
227 Entering Passive Mode (66,220,2,20,163,247)
MLSD
150 Accepted data connection
226-Options: -a -l
226 7 matches total
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me :P

Wolf handle the ftp/permission problem, because that's something you setup, not me.
I'll handle the siteadmin issues.
Nobody do ANYTHING with the quickadmin if you are trying to figure out why you aren't updating. You need to post the RSS.XML file from your site to help me figure that out. And when I say, it should be working, it SHOULD be working because no code was changed in how it operates. since it works manually. There is only one varible that's different between the servers in regards to this, and that is the GMT offset to the PST offset used, if I had it backwards, things would be updating at the wrong time. But the only person to post their RSS so far indicates it's updating at the right time, so therefor that doesn't seem to be it. Which is why I'm fairly certain that there is no problem with the updator, and it's simply people never setting the right timezone.
Anywho, Post the RSS.XML and what timezone you have. I'll make it easy, I'll modify the RSS output so it shows what timezone it should be running ing shortly.

I have just been able to get into siteadmin today. I have been trying all the fixes as they have been presenting themselves figuring eventually I would hit on it.
Normally I log out and into the forum using "log in to check messages." I did that today with no luck. Then tried just "log in" and it worked. I don't know what the difference is, but it might help someone.
When I log into the old FTP section though I get a 403 error. That is all it says.
