The long list is too long.

For discussions, announcements, non-technical questions and anything else comics-related or otherwise that doesn't fit in any of the other categories.

When I have finished my addictions, I still feel a need for some more... just one more panel, please. NOW!!!
Anyway, I then go to the Really Long List of Keenspace Comics and start clicking at random.
Unfortunately, most of those links are duds. Most of then simply gives the title of the comic and the date Desember 0.
Could you please make it so that to get on the Really Long List of Keenspace Comics you need to have at least ONE strip up? Please?
------------------

heh.
this has been an often-discussed, on-and-off-again debate, really...
the problem is, how do you decide which ones to weed? should there be time limits?
i remember having suggested this months ago:
have three lists~~ one with "active comics," one with "passive" comics, and one with "dormant/retired" comics.
"active" comics are those that have updated at least once in the past month. this gives a chance to those comics that update, say, weekly or bi-weekly... (perhaps two months would be more fair?)
"passive" comics are those that haven't updated in one to three months...
and "dormant/retired comics" are those that have published some comics, but have stopped updating, either with an official notification by the cartoonist that said series has ended, or by having left the site unattended or forgotten. after three months of being a "passive" comic, a strip that still hadn't updated would be put into this category.
one final "category" would exist, and that would be the "vapour" comics... those accounts that were opened, but that were never worked on~~ not even a single comic, really. i would argue that, if after three months, the cartoonist hadn't updated his site at least once ~~ even if it was just a message that said "i'll be starting in XX weeks/months from now... if nothing had been done to the site, then i would just delete it. why bother wasting space if it isn't going to be used at all? if said cartoonist wants to join keenspace again, he'd have to get a new account...
...
now here is the biggest problem with this plan/suggestion:
who would be in charge of policing the entire 700+ comics in the 'Space?
Sure, it would only have to be done once a month, but still, it would be an ENORMOUS task, to look at each site, to tabulate which ones fell in which category, and then to retabulate the lists to reflect the findings...
of course, i'm sure that a bot of some kind could be programmed to do such a task, but, not being a PC-literate guy myself, i don't know how much of this could be automated efficiently...
anywho...
perhaps one day, if enough people keep bringing it up, and with the ever growing number of new accounts being opened each month, we'll see a better, more user-friendly, up-to-date and chaff-free Keenspace list.
for now, just keep pushing the issue.
......

oh, and a final note: when i say "updated," i don't mean only if a new comic has appeared... i mean if anything (substantial?) was modified on the individual site~~ essentially, any sign of "life," really...
------------------

Policing wouldn't necessary; I'm sure they could set the AutoKeen up so when people run an update, the list changes accordingly. You'd only need two lists too, one for active/passive comics with appropiate icon indicators, and a dormant/finished list.
The other ideas suggested are the ability to sort the list (exact methods have not been agreed apon), first comic links (this would enable you to ignore vacant accounts too), and visited links to show up in different colours as most links do.
------------------

You know the answer is to eliminate comics that we (a vague "we" don't like.)
------------------

(Heavily edited -Stig)
Personally, I would be more than happy if it was just a vapour/non-vapour division. That should be easy to automate too.
------------------

I think the best effort/response ratio would be to include a first and latest comic link -- and have the links behave normally with regards to visited colouring.
I've e-mailed this last to Teri, who has passed it on to The Boys...
------------------
