Well yeah they are funny, but only if they occur sparingly. Right now it is just about every joke. Character dev followed by character-based humor would really alleviate Elflad of this overdependence.
Still, I found it slightly amusing.

Yeah, but it's also a look inside my psyche. C'mon, a guy works on something that he feels is special and is shot down by praise that he feels is inadequate?
Of course, the analogy falls apart a tad when you consider that the character invented something great and I can name maybe twenty of my comics that I think were good.
Legendary is about RPGs on the surface, but if you look deep enough, you'll discover some frightening subtext about the author's insecurities about himself and his work.
