Yeeeeeesh... That's stone cold. Sorry, bud...
(Although I have to admit I'm not too sorry.
For one thing, Yay! I actually get to progress! And for another, I had a dream last night that you and RA ditched me when we were all supposed to go to an amusement park together.
I had all my money converted into Euros, too! Not cool, man, not cool!)

Battle!
Well, looks like Serge has got quite the potential advantage here being the only Technical fighter against a group of opponents where half of them are weak against his particular brand of damage. Granted, he's weak to Physical, and there are seven contestants who specialize in that.
We didn't start with many players weak against Physical combat, so it's a bit of a surprise that we still have as many as we do considering that we had so many contestants dealing said damage type.
It is, of course, redundant to state that this will be interesting, no?
Of the original nine contestants weak to Mental attacks, only three have pulled through. I was hoping for more, but with some more luck I'll be pitted against these three, beat them all, and they'll each win their two other matches against other contestants so I can "milk" them for as long as possible.
[AOD] versus Sasjhwa should prove to be a quick match, as well as Serge versus Tim, but I can only guess who might win in each.
And I'm quite happy to be facing Fading Aura's Unitzoid!
*doesn't want to wait through the grudge matches, but will do its best to enjoy them*

That's not the half of it. I must have the forums on the brain, because a few nights ago I dreamt that I was watching a show about the many attractions of St. Louis, because Ryan and Beth were going to be on it, talking about the cookout. I distinctly remember this one shot of Kolter throwing a frisbee while the narrator mentioned that "every year, webcomic artists from around the globe all converged on St. Louis to meet and eat."Killbert-Robby wrote:Awwww you dreamt about me?
Hmm. Well, this is an interesting lineup! I'm going to have to draw my three round 1 battles soon. That should be pretty fun.
So far, my mental attacks seem to pair well with my high agility score. It seems that I'm both good at avoiding damage, while using that agility to maximise pinpoint damage. Considering that Sash is weak to mental, and the current track record of victories of a certain attack type versus those who are weak to that type, with my awesome weather-predicting skills, I foresee an initial victory!

Wiki updated, and the betting gnomes have placed some notations to help the betters make their bets.
Slightly favored = one person has one more win than the other, so has one stat point advantage, random points notwithstanding
dual weakness fight = anyone's game here folks, they're weak to each other!
heavily favored = one fighter is going against his/her weakness without it being reciprocated. Odds on this fighter are high indeed.

I wanna see the updates.
Since I haven't added the battle wiki to my favourites yet, 'Poet, do you think you could make each of your posts in this thread behave like a link, or perhaps add a link in your signature for the time being, please?

Also, when you get the chance, Net, make sure the "Current Record"s on the inidividual fighters is up to date, and maybe make a note of whether or not they've been eliminated.

I like this idea.
Thanks Tim.
er . . . I really want to make this post more "purposeful". Hmm . . .
How do betting odds work? Like: "VileTerror versus Fading Aura, 5:1 odds"?
Maybe for the next Keenspace Arena Battle we can have a meta-game betting system so everyone can participate in some manner.

I'll post more battles tomorrow, and am taking tonight off.
Also, for Round 2 there will be two sets of stats - overall, and round-based. Overall is, obviously, overall win/loss. Round-based is based on the 3 series of each round, and you have to win 2 or more to move on, just like in Round 1.
Tomorrow, the grudge and requested matchups, and maybe one or two of the Round 2 battles.

GRUDGE MATCH: Net vs. Tynan
Net, the Naga with the magical flair, vs. Tynan, the demonic hellspawn with the claws and strength.
1 - Net casts a lightning spell as soon as the battle starts! The spell arches out and sparks all around Oni, electrocuting him! (12 damage). Oni becomes enraged and lunges for Net, catching his tail and neck in each hand and bending him like a pretzel! (12 damage!)
2 - Oni literally ties Net into a knot and cinches it taught to the sound of tearing muscle and breaking bones! (10 damage)!
3 - Net manages to mumble a spell that summons steel spikes from the earth to rise up and pierce Oni! (12 damage). Enraged further, Oni throws Net to the ground and begins to stomp him. The stomping continues long after the battle is over. (11 damage)
Winner: Oni.
Loser: Net.
Both combatants are treated by an Ogre butcher, who cleanly resets bones and stitches together muscles, then sticks a price per pound on both of them and helps them out of the arena.

GRUDGE MATCH: The Neko vs. The Suburban Letdown
The Neko, the physical adept with his pipe and knife, vs. Evan-Li and his various artistic and streetfighting implements!
1 - Evan pulls his knife, and Neko pulls his. Neko makes funny gestures with his knife, then tosses it and pulls out his lead pipe.
2 - Evan gives Neko the finger and bares his teeth. They approach each other...
3 - Evan gets to Neko first, pushes Neko's arm away, and bites down hard on that arm. Neko makes kind of a "Gah!" and "Ick!" noise at the same time and yanks his arm away. Evan grins evilly.
4 - Neko grimaces and shifts his pipe to the other arm. Evan spits blood. The crowd roars it's approval!
5 - Neko and Evan pace around a common center, each looking for an opening. Linkara, from the stands, shouts drunkenly, "Get in there you pansies!"
6 - Evan whips his evil metal t-square out and throws it like a ninja star towards Neko! It jabs into his leg! (5 damage). Neko pulls it out with a growl, aims, and entirely missing Evan, lands it directly between Linkara's eyes. Linkara says, "Oh here we go aga-" and dies.
7 - Evan looks to watch Linkara die, and it's the opportunity Neko needs. Neko whips his pipe around, smacking it directly into the side of Evan's head! (16 damage). Evan goes head over feet and lands on the ground. He manages to pull a second knife and stab it into Neko's foot though (5 damage).
8 - Neko screams and pulls the knife out of his leg and Evan bites him in the shin! (5 damage). Neko brings his pipe down on Evan again and again until he releases his bite. (14 damage).
Winner: Neko
Loser: Evan-Li
A couple ogre fast food workers run onto the arena, grab Evan and man-handle Neko, dump them both into deep friers (brought on stage while everyone was watching the commotion) and thirty seconds later bring out a fully healed (if slightly crispy) Neko and Evan! They bow and run off stage.

Round 2 - Series 1: Rickford vs. Sparrow
Rickford is a drunken master of physical manhandling, while Black Sparrow is a wicked lady with twin whips... or is that a lady with wicked twin whips? Anyway, neither is weak to the other.
1 - Sparrow cracks her whips, one per shin, on Rickford's shins! Rickford drops to his knees in the sand of the arena in sudden pain! (10 damage).
2 - Sparrow tries to whip Rickford again, but he appears to have fallen face first into the sand. She overshoots.
3 - Rickford awakens to the cracking whips and shouts something about his mother needing to get off his back. In any case, he sits bolt upright, again fooling Sparrow, who was planning on striking him while he was prone.
4 - Sparrow moves in closer, then cracks her whips on Rickford's chest! (7 damage). Rickford yelps and lunges at Sparrow, gropeing her boobies. "My chest hurts, can I have yours?" he drools drunkenly. (10 damage from embarassment)
5 - Sparrow knees Rickford in the mommy/daddy buttons and he goes out cold. Half the audience does the same. (9 damage).
Winner - Sparrow! She glows, is healed, and gains a stat point.
Loser - Rickford. A goblin in a tuxedo, wielding a bottle of ale, walks out, upends the bottle down Rickford's throat, slaps him around until he wakes up, and tells him the bar's closed and he has to go home. Rickford staggers off the arena, basically unharmed.
