Series 2 - Round 1 - Kilbert Robby (Killbert) (0/1) vs. Tim (1/0)
Killbert is a technical expert with both a colt45 and a lightsaber. Tim is... some kind of freak of nature that exudes bladed appendages, whips, and tentacles. He is a physical adept, weak against Killbert's technology.
1 - Tim launches an all out attack to try to end this battle quickly! Tentacles lash out from behind his back, each with a deadly curved blade at the end! Killbert spins his lightsaber, sliceing each tentacle down! (13 damage).
2 - Having sliced down the tentacles, Killbert draws his Colt45 and unloads half a clip into Tim's writhing form! (15 damage).
3 - Tim collapses and Killbert lunges, shoving his lightsaber through Tim's face, and burying it completely into the sands, melding Tim's head to the molten sands beneath it!
The crowd goes wild!
Winner - Killbert! Killbert glows and gains a stat point!
Loser - Tim. Ogre graveyard thieves sneak out, dig Tim out of the glassy sands he's melted to, toss his body into a wheelbarrow, and start to haul him off! Another ogre, dressed as a mad scientist comes up, pays off the graveyard robbers, attaches electrodes to Tim, and electrocutes him back to life! Tim staggers off the field, and the Ogres all take a bow.
(** usually I don't have someone devestated this badly, but all Tim's rolls were catastrophic failures, and all Killbert's were unmitigated successes. The crowd loved it, and are buying "I bet on Tim!" t-shirts.)

Series 2 - Round 1 - [AOD] (Noir) (1/0) vs. Rickford (1/0)
In one corner we have... well, a corner. A frame really. Noir, the living embodiment of the comic frame, a mental adept able to alter reality itself, against Rickford, the drunken physical battle artist, who is sadly, weak against mental attacks.
1 - Noir leaps into the air above rickford, becomes a brick wall, and lands on him! (7 damage)! Rickford struggles out of the rubble.
2 - Noir reforms as a lance, and shoves itself at Rickford, stabbing him for (5 damage)! Rickford pulls the lance out, and angrily beats it against the ground until it's nothing more than a wavy line (10 damage!)
3 - Noir turns from a wavy line into a soundwave, and rolls repeatedly through Rickford, making all his internal organs jiggle (7 damage)! Rickford vomits all over the floor, then appologizes to the floor.
4 - Rickford grabs Noir, and breaks it in half! (8 damage) Noir reforms, neatly piercing Rickford's brain (6 damage). Rickford collapses.
Winner: [AOD]! Noir glows, is healed, and gains a stat point.
Loser: Rickford. An Ogre rolls out a cask of wine, cracks it's lid off, and shoves Rickford in. Then, picks up the cask and chugs the entire contents to the amusement of the audience! The ogre finally vomits up Rickford, who, drunk as ever, but healed, staggers out of the arena.

Series 2 - Round 1 - Linkara (0/1) vs. The Neko (0/1)
Linkara is a physical adept who likes to jump and attack with whatever is available like a mad...thing. The Neko is a physical adept himself, who uses a steel pipe like a bludgeon and sword. This promises to be entertaining!
1 - Linkara lunges at The Neko, who lines up for a base hit, and smacks Linkara with his steel pipe into the outfield! (14 damage)
2 - The Neko runs towards Linkara, who gets on all fours and trundles like a little tank right at Neko! Linkara hits Neko in the crotch! (5 damage) and latches on with his claws! Neko tries to impale Linkara with the steel pipe, and succeeds, partially (11 damage).
3 - Neko picks Linkara up by the pipe, and then piledrives him into the ground with the pipe! (14 damage) When Neko pulls up the pipe, Linkara lets out a little squeak.
4 - Linkara splits into four smaller Linkari, which crawl all over Neko, biting him in many places! (3 damage) Neko is visibly disgusted by this behavioiur and tries in vain to shoo the Linkari off him.
5 - The Linkari reform into Linkara and bite Neko in the arm! (4 damage)
6 - Neko pulls Linkara into him, and while holding Linkara against his chest, pinned by the arm still in Linkara's mouth, uses a pocket knife to slit Linkara's throat (11 damage). He then releases Linkara, who falls to the ground.
Winner: Neko! Neko glows, is healed, and gains a stat point.
Loser: Linkara. An ogre in a baker's hat (and nothing else) comes out with a pie, cuts Linkara a slice, and shoves it down Linkara's throat. Linkara coughs, tweets like a blackbird, and then feels himself for wounds. Finding none, he steals another slice of blackbird pie, and heads off the arena floor.

Not always, but it is a significant disadvantage. The disadvantage is both in chance to hit (from a small to major bonus, depending on the individual) and on amount of damage (from small to major depending on the individual).[AOD] wrote:Uh, wow. That was a fast battle.
Hey! I've noticed a pattern: whenever a person weak against something goes up against someone of the type to which they're weak, they always lose!

So yeah, if two characters are generally equal, but one is weaker to the other's attack, you'd put your money on the strong one. But it's just favorable odds, not at all a guarantee.

Series 2 - Round 1 - Vileterror (1/0) vs. Tynan (1/0)
Vileterror is a mentalist specializing in psychological warefare, pyrokenesis, teleportation, and some types of telekenesis. Tynan is a large demon, specializing in being a large, badass demon. Tynan is known to be weak to mental powers.
1 - Tynan reaches out, grabs VileTerror by the arm, and breaks it's arm in two places, with one hand! (13 damage). VT is obviously in pain, but doesn't speak a word.
2 - VT in return grabs Tynan's hand, and lights the whole of Tynan on fire! Tynan laughs, being a demon and thus immune to fire, until he realizes that VT's fire is all in his mind... Tynan starts to scream. (12 damage)
3 - Tynan yanks away from VT and takes a step back, readying a punch. VT takes the moment's pause to tie it's arm up and out of the way.
4 - VT teleports Tynan two feet straight down, into the sand! Sand invades Tynan's body, causing horrible itching and sexual dysfunction! (11 damage).
5 - Tynan roars and pulls himself out of the sand! On shaky legs, he bundles his fists together and lands them squarely on VT's head! VT is forced down to it's knees, and into the sand! The impact is heard throughout the stadium! (17 damage)
6 - VT struggles to it's feet. Tynan laughs loudly and evilly, his laugh echoing through the stands.
7 - VT stares at the back of Tynan's head, while cradling it's arm. Tynan's laugh falters, chokes off, and becomes one long scream, as his mind is subjected to whatever the nightmares of a demon must truely be like. Tynan drops to the sands, head wrapped in his claws, and is unable to continue fighting.
Winner: VileTerror! VileTerror starts to glow, but sidesteps the glow, snagging the bonus point along the way. An annoyed ogre comes out with a flashlight, and waves it over VT, healing it completely.
Loser: Tynan! Two ogre firestarters with flamethrows hose down Tynan with napalm. Tynan burns until he glows, healing all the way.
