In the original Star Wars (IV): When C3p0 and R2d2 were in the control room, and the storm troopers were about to come in, You can see, as the door opens, that one of the storm troopers whacks his head on the blast door.

I don't know if thats in the re-re-re-released addition or not.

in pirates of the caribbean, and only in the early early early DVD releases, in one of the final shots of the film, there is a man wearing a cowboy hat standing behind the crew staring out to sea.

That's in all versions, and that's two re's too many.

I don't care. I don't watch Star Wars nor have them on VHS anymore to care. I don't think they needed to be released again at all, but that's my opinion.

Good for you... probably. To be honest, I don't really understand the second sentence there.

I can't recall if that was intentional or not, but I do know that it was intentional in Attack of the Clones to have Jango Fett hit his head on the door of the Slave I right after his big fight with Obi-Wan . . . like original, like clone.
Existence is a series of catastrophes through which everything barely but continually survives.

I wasn't aware of the "shooting star in every film" tradition of Speilberg.

According to Steve's Wikipedia entry (a friend of a friend told me it was a reliable source) it's a running theme for him. However, I have my doubts.

His first "major" film was Duel, and I don't recal any "shooting stars" in that one. For starters, the entire film is shot during the day and the story only covers a few hours. His second film was "The Sugarland Express", which I have not seen, but I couldn't find any info on a 'shooting star' being in it.

Then came 'Jaws', with it's shooting star and then 'CEOT3K' with it's rather obvious ability to incorporate it.

Having viewed the shot in 'Jaws', it looks too real to be a special effect from the 70's (keeping in mind that I watched a DVD version, so it could have been fixed up, or inserted). It's only on screen for about seven frames.

To my mind, the one in 'Jaws' was a co-incidence, Steve liked it and decided to try and include it in all his movies. But that's just what I think, and I'm nobody.

Yeah, you're right. I checked the 'Making of...' documentary, and they indeed claim that it was an actual shooting star, captured by mere coincidence. And I guess it's then pretty likely that that was the inspiration for all the later appearances of the star in later Spielberg movies.

Ok, everyone seen Toy Story? Well when the kid turns around those toys he play with start coming to life. It's really cool, but the camera focused too much on it in my opinion.

It was supposed to be about how the kid copes with his family's divorce, but the director got carried away with that easter egg, I swear.

Hey man, kids eat that stuff up! While they were distracted with all the simple sight gags, the rest of the audience could be left to appreciate the real story contained within the subtext!

A really neat one I caught is in The Fellowship of the Ring, in an early scene where Frodo and Sam are walking through a field, there's a car driving on a road in the background. It's visible for about 10 seconds.

In Signs, when that guy drives off in the SUV after talking to Mel, you can see the camera reflected on the car.

In the first Rescuers movie, there is a picture of a naked lady for a few quick frames during a fast motion scene. I initially caught this on my own before finding out its fairly common knowledge on the interweb.
This has been the Dark Spider...

In Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, you can see Belle from Beauty & the Beast walk around in the streets of Paris reading a book.
