Okay. I seem to have missed this the first time through, but I'll give it a shake this time and see what happens...

Strong: Physical - can probably throw a boomerang and partake in schoolyard scuffles and so forth. A good bloody nose will usually stop any fight - usually he is the one who gets them though. If you're looking for a weapon, then it would have to be the trusty cricket bat.

Weak: Mental. No question. He doesn't know the words to his times tables, but he at least knows the tune.

Points:

Strength: 3 (He's only eleven...)

Endurance: 10 (You know kids...they never bloody stop...)

Agility: 7 (Sneaky little bastard...and I only had seven points left)

longer than it was, and tomorrow was always another game away?

Name and Describe your character briefly
Sortelli. The Woot look-alike version.

Choose the type of attack your character will prefer to do:

Physical - Slapping things with brooms or wrapping up a foe in a tentacle. Notably, no actual groping and molestation of anyone's dirty humanoid orifices. Gross!

Choose the type of attack your character will be weak against:
Technical.

Assign Points:
You have twenty total points to put into the below three statistics. There is no minimum (you can choose to put no points in) nor maximum (besides "20" obviously).

Strength - 0

Endurance - 20

Agility - 0

edit: Oh man, I just noticed Mort took this build as well.

Yeah... Sorry Sort. And sadly, neither you nor Dutch! noticed Kolter's last post said he was only allowed one more person in to the arena. Technically, that would be VileTerror.

Really? I could've sworn it says right there that the attack he does is physical, by leaping at the opponent and biting/scratching/clawing/etc. As for weak attack, then:

His body might be quick, but he's frail. A swift kick, punch, or other such type of pummeling will easily destroy him. Failing that, if you start talking and are boring, it will destroy his will to live and he may attempt suicide.

Dude, you're supposed to pick one of the four words. The description is mostly for flavor.

Apparently your attack is Physical. And since you can't have a Physical weakness, I'd say "being bored to death" would fall under Mental.

Yup. Dutch, Sortelli, I'm really sorry guys, but it's easiest to do this thing as a power of two. I've got 32 players with VileTerror, and I'd go insane trying to do a 64 player arenabattle. :-?

On the other hand, the speed this filled up at is very impressive. :)

How Combat Will Work (Derenge asked!)

There will be five rounds, with each person getting to fight three times in a round; all fights are randomly chosen - you will not (unless the dice are very unlucky) be fighting the same person all three times.

At the end of each round, only people who have won two or three fights will go through. Those who have won zero or one fight will not go through. All fights however, will be fought. So even if you lose your first two fights, you get to stick around for the third fight just for the fun of it.

Round one: 32 fighters, 16 eliminated.
Round two: 16 fighters, 8 eliminated.
Round three: 8 fighters, 4 eliminated.
Round four (semifinals): 4 fighters, 2 eliminated.
Round five (finals): 2 fighters, one eliminated, one wins.

For each fight:

1) On each turn of the fight, I will determine who attacks first. This is based on the agility of the characters, plus a random value. In the event that two characters get the same value, both go at the same time.

2) On each turn of the fight, I will determine who hits who. There is one attack per turn.

3) Then I assign damage. The person who attacks first, gets to deal damage first. If the victim isn't killed, the second person's damage is dealt.

4) I see if either character is dead; if so I declare a winner for that fight, and increment the history of the fighter and their score (wins/losses). The winner gets a free bonus point randomly assigned in their stats! The loser gets ressurected. Both characters wait for their next fight.

5) If neither is dead I check if either is exhausted. If not, then go to step #1.

6) At the end of all the fights for the round, I determine who goes onto the next round. Then I start all over with the next round.

7) Once it's all done, I'll release the final stats and information for the characters.

I will report the results, basically whenever I feel like it, but certainly at a minimum at the end of each round of combat so that people can see how they're doing.

The results will be basic: Who is fighting, and a turn by turn summary of who hits whom and for how much. I may also mention special effects, like if a LOT of damage gets dealt, or if someone utterly fumbles a shot, or if someone is being hit with their weakness attack.

It is up to you to take a look at the characters and decide if you want to draw a scene from the battles. If you do, please tell people so that multiple people don't work on the same scene. The weapons of choice and some very interesting flavor text for each character is available in pages 1-3 of this thread. All character stats were in pages 1-3, which should save you time looking them up.

I estimate this will take several weeks to finish off, with semi-regular updates. :)

Now, how is damage determined, and how is it determined if you hit or not?

Damage: Based on your strength, plus, if your victim is weak to your type of attack, a modifier based on how weak they are to it. minus, if your victim is proficient with your type of attack, a modifier based on how proficient they are with it. minus, a modifier based on their agility.

Ability to hit your opponent: Based on your agility, plus a modifier if they are weak to your type of attack.

You can pretty much count on me writing at least one scene from my battles. :p

Battles, hopefully... hopefully it's not battle, and I'm retired after just one fight... :p

Excellent, we have a specialist in all three attributes. I love exploring game systems. :)

From the description of how combat works, I expect the endurance specialist (Mort) to do fairly well, while the other specialists are likely to be out in the first round.

Damn, I wanted to see the epic battle between Sort and Mort.
It'd have been an intense staring contest… and then one would die from hunger.

Fights I'd like to see would be either of the specialists against each other...

(Remus vs Mort, Mort vs Me, Me vs Remus).

The first one is the Irresistable Force versus the Immovable Object, I dunno about the other two, though.
