Not much into Go Nagai, although I did enjoy the later Getta Robo series, especially the songs.
Damon is loosely based on Shinji (Evangelion). In the panels where he goes berserk you can almost hear Cruel Angel's Thesis swelling up in the background. Or at least I hear it in my head. I don't hate Damon, per se. If I seem that way, I was only concerned that a character like him might alienate readers, to the extent of driving them away.
