I used to have a Mexican Red-leg Tarantula as a pet. She was about the size of the open palm of my hand. I named her Terry and kept her in a large aquarium and fed her crickets that you could buy at the petstore. A female tarantula can live for about 25 years by the way and molts about once a year. I ended up selling her to a friend. It would seem that my future wife was like most of you, scared to death of spiders even the small ones. She did look at Terry once in her aquarium but when I started to take the lid off to take Terry out, she suddenly vanished. In the long run I figured my wife was better company than Terry was anyway...

around my home you don't let the callender tell you what season it is, you let the bugs and weather tell you that.

like this time of year it's getting colder and all the spiders (wolf spiders mostly) begin their annual migration to the first floor where they are quickly eradicated by myself and my family. the bigger, the squishier and bigger the target.

You're probably right. The question is how Quentyn will read into that action? If we can misinterpret this sign, he could. From his smiles, I suppose that he seen that as a good sign. She maybe starts to think to him as a friend or something like that.

Remember that Raccona Diehm see sharing bed space with family differrently than she might. He may just see it as bonding with a freind. She'll problebly flip out when she wakes up.

Come to that, living on the street might have given her a pragmatic approach to nocturnal thermodynamics... although the individual in question (not to mention the dreaded blanket) might make a difference. Plus they wouldn't necessarily realize that the OTHER person wouldn't read much into it since they have different reason. Him: She is still just a child... Her: Warmth is warmth, gotta take it where you can get it. So, we have several possible ways this can go.

meh i say they just wake up look at each other and go about there day...
i think there both smart to realize what happened and think nothing of it.
heck it's happened at least once to all of us in our lives right???

Sam's not showing any opinions in the matter, since she's asleep. Quentyn could have any number of reasons for going along with it, despite Sam's probably-still-slightly-unpleasant human scent. Maybe he's just being patient (Kids! What'cha gonna do!?) in which case, he's showing a lot of emotional maturity for a relatively young Rac Conan.

I found it very interesting to see Quentyn "turn off" the lamp with a little lux manipulation. Not something we had seen him do before.

It just points out how lux-oriented his actions can be.

It's something I've noticed before -- Up until coming to human space, we really didn't see Quentyn do much of this; mostly, I think, so we'd see him as he saw himself and the other Rac Conans saw him, as a very low-level lux user.

Now, where lux use is all but unknown, we're seeing Quentyn as the outside world sees him: Mr. Magic.

I think spiders are OK. Don't care for centipeds, but they don't freak me out. My boss, now...she is a strict vegitarian and loves animals, but show her a mouse running loose...me, if it has wings and stings (hornets, wasps, yellow jackets, bumblebees, honeybees...) I used to make a Tommy shaped hole in the wall. Now I have reached the point of control to either leave by the door, or spray enough insecticide to alarm the EPA.

Not really, they never gone higher that ankle. Beside camping's showers are usualy filled with flying insects. Lucky for me, water running on my skin always seemed calm any invasion of both ground and flying insects.

I guess they're rather hard to detect when you're lathering your hair, and then they've only gone as far as the knee. Sure I find it creepy and then just brush it off, but I bet Madmoonie would jump through the ceiling....

Yep.

And in college I woke up to a cockroach (one of the big ones) crawling up my leg.

I had a poisonous caterpillar fall down the back of my shirt - my firends said I did the funniest dance trying to get the beastie out - they stopped laughing when they saw the welts on my back from the poisonous spines.
