Dang, I can't believe I failed to mention Fontaine Fox, who I discovered at a time when he could (and probably did) influence me in some way.

Doesn't it drive you bats to draw two characters stuck in such a static situation (sitting in a car) so much? Are you forever trying to find new ways to approach this situation or are you happy to basically redraw the same picture over and over with minor variations?

"Bats" is a good way of putting it. Yeah, I can't stand it; something I probably should have considered before creating a strip that takes place almost entirely in a car. I do try to vary the angles a bit but there's only so much I can do. Fortunately, they're not going to be in that car forever…

Then you'll see why I asked about the car. I do a lot that involves pictures of me sitting at the computer or the drawing board and there are only so many variations you can do of the same situation, so I was interested in your take.

My take is I wish I could push that car across the country myself so that I won't have to draw it anymore, but they seem content to be taking their sweet time. Ah, comic characters—what can you do?

I read through your whole archives, and for some reason I was barely aware of the fact that you place yourself in a similar setting a lot of the time; you're varying your "shots" enough so that it's not really noticeable.

I hear you on that. I don't even have an excuse since I just draw the boring stuff I get up to. If I only lead a more interesting life it would be a much more exciting comic.

I mean literally. Put a gun in my hand and tell me I'll get a chocolate muffin if I murder some guy and I'll do it. Of course this offer is only valid for a very limited time.

"Exciting" is overrated (in comics, that is; in life a bit of excitement is all right). One of the things I like about comics like yours (and at the risk of being immodest, mine) is that there aren't a lot of dramatic twists and turns and "events." Slice-of-life comics, if done well, are a lot more interesting to me than "exciting" comics. I guess it's because I can relate to them more.

At some point when I get my act together enough to organise my links page, I'll put you on it.

That would be nice, but don't kill yourself over it. I wasn't fishing for a link exchange when I put the your link on my page; I just did it because I like your comic. But feel free to link to me if you want. I would be honored.

Think I'll be keeping my distance the next time 4 am rolls around. Either that or make sure I have a spare chocolate muffin handy.

Oh, and to answer your question, I don't think I've ever had a chocolate muffin craving at 4 am. But a bean and cheese burrito craving can happen at any time. And usually does.
